Per Football Scoop, Pendergast is being considered as DC at both schools

Quote:

Oregon: As mentioned below, Clancy Pendergast is a candidate at USC for their defensive coordinator position; but sources tell FootballScoop that Oregon is also strongly considering Pendergast for their open defensive coordinator position. Will update once this plays out.

USC: 49ers linebackers coach Clancy Pendergast has interviewed for the USC defensive coordinator position. Pendergast was the Trojans DC back in 2013 before joining the Niners.

CP is a good coach, but quite the journeyman. Since 2008 he's coached for the Cardinals, Chiefs, Cal, USC and 49ers. Makes you wonder why he keeps moving.

I think it's mostly due to head coaching changes. He left Cal when Dykes came in and brought Buh. He ended up at SC during Kiffin's last year and at the end of the season they brought in Sark who brought in Wilcox so he was out again and went to the Niners who also underwent a coaching change just now which leaves him open again.

I think it's more of a warning sign when a coach is changing positions without HC changes often because it typically means they're being released (unless they're just moving up the rank/getting promoted). The only type of red flag there in Pendergast's career is getting released from the Cardinals (though it was coming off their Super Bowl appearance season) and going to the Chiefs with Todd Haley (who was the Cardinals OC) and getting let go after one season.

I don't know names I'm on phone thus I have limitations lol

The coaching changes plus the amount of de commits add in the guys leaving early as well as transferring in /out of schools seems like a lot going on more than usual or is it just me

transfers are WAY up for everyone.

I think the decommits are a function of this year there seemed to be a lot of early commits. like a big chunk of guys that committed prior to the season

why is that an issue? Cal fans insisted OCs/DCs don't have to recruit much

we said it for Pendergast, and now Franklin.
