it sounds like a Stanford kid just graduated and will be transferring to Cal to play football next year. He will likely become an all conference player at a position of need for us.

This is obviously a great thing for the football team. But it is curious from the perspective of his personal future. Not doing his mission probably means he's not marrying a person of his faith, which is a big deal.
