Why? He was the best college player of his time - he earned that Heisman. Subsequent events should not impact.
What should have impact is conviction and incarceration.

I find that punishment analogous to those shouting for stripping a public employee of their pension for a crime committed in the present day. Why should someone lose something they've earned for, say, 25 years, for a crime committed in year 25? I realize that "going after one's assets" includes a person's retirement.

But stripping him of his Heisman is even worse. The dude earned the Heisman and his merit earning it stands on its own.

Yeah, blood carried around LA, to crime scene, suddenly appears on gate.
Barry Scheck, showing before photo of gate (no blood) and after (blood):
Where is it, Mr Fung? (referring to no blood photo).

Then, later, the rogue detective takes the Fifth.

Reasonable doubt? Of course.
Too much crap in evidence and testimony.

Marcus Allen must say blessings every day that he wasn't caught in one of his times with Mrs. Simpson (unless that was okay with OJ).

I remember we were in Hong Kong and looking at a TV of a car chase and OJ Simpson in script streaming across the bottom. Total wtf moment

The fact that you would spend your time on a 10-part sensationalized fictional series based on a factual event that we all know how it ended. And that this is a TV show you've most looked forward to in years...wow. That is sad.

In that same vein, wouldn't that mean Titanic was a massive 3 hour waste of time?

I recall reading a piece about the trial in Vanity Fair at the time by Dominic Dunne, who provided ongoing coverage of the trial and surrounding events. Dunne stated that there was a witness to OJ leaving the murder scene at about the time the murder was committed. The witness was a woman was driving in the opposite direction, turning into the street where the murder was committed just as OJ was exiting. According to her, he was driving very fast, did not stop at the intersection, which had a stop sign, almost colliding with her. The woman foolishly told (sold?) her story to some media outlet disqualifying the account from being admitted as testimony.

Why would people return to Cal Shakespeare to watch another version of Romeo & Juliet? I mean, they all know how it ends.

Because it's about how well it's staged and performed. You can still get something out of it. A TV series like this would be the same way. If it's done well then it can still be worthwhile.

Obviously I haven't seen it, so I have no idea whether or not it's done well. But I'm not going to dismiss it out of hand either.

Finally, a meaty TV role for an Asian where he doesn't play a nerd or the butt of the jokes. Oh wait...

The worst casting decision is Cuba Gooding's voice. It would have been far better to find an actor that sounded like OJ.

CTE is the result of a player's choice to play a dangerous, potentially damaging game ... and a pretty poor excuse for anti-social behavior.
Can prolonged voluntary use of controlled substances also become a "defense"?

How bout the kids in Friday Night Tykes who will develop CTE? Their fault also?

no, need series about still relevant Predictions vs Results of Neo-con Wars, starring Cheney and Rummy
and the future of carpet bombing and "glowing sands" (great name for the series).

But they didn't know about CTE in 1969, unless you want to argue that they DID know about it and hid it from him, in which case it's the NFL's fault that Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson were murdered - I think maybe it's Roger Goodell who should be in prison. Who's with me? If the accusation is wild enough, people will follow! We merely require a catchy slogan. If the brain-scan was not bought, then jail the lot!

Where is the clause that says it goes to the best offensive talent on one of the winningest teams in the country. It would be nice to see a W-L record of both the nominees and the winners over the past 30 years.

I'm sure my kids are going to love it. My wife and I have talked about OJ for years and they can't fathom all the twists and turns. For this reason alone, the series will be a success in attracting viewers.

Has anyone seen that theory that it wasn't OJ who did the killing, but OJ's son from his first wife? I watched some hour-long show on YouTube about it. The young man was a chef and had a collection of knives. He had threatened people, and had erratic behavior. The show suggested he maybe didn't like Nicole and had no ally for the time of the murders.
Of course, now I'm forgetting what the show had to say about footprints, OJ-matching DNA all over the place, etc.
But it was kinda interesting nonetheless...

Anyways, here's the best review I've seen:

http://www.slate.com/articles/arts/television/2016/01/the_people_v_oj_simpson_american_crime_story_on_fx_reviewed_by_willa_paskin.single.html
The 10-episode FX series, which begins Tuesday night and stars Cuba Gooding Jr. in the title role, is based on Jeffrey Toobin's book, The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson. It is adapted by screenwriters Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski and produced by Ryan Murphy, the creative force behind Glee and American Horror Story. Murphy has said that the series is agnostic on the subject of Simpson's guilt or innocence, but this is coy. In the opening pages of his book, Toobin flatly states his belief in Simpson's guilt, as well as his belief that this guilt is a lesser feature of the trial. Its essential aspect is race and how a seemingly straightforward murder case, insofar as such things can ever be straightforward, became a racial litmus test.
Clearly, the network gets to stay clear of any racial accusations by playing agnostic, and more importantly, keeping the "did he do it" line stirs up WAY more conversation than a CASE CLOSED presentation of the facts. Thus, it's better for ratings.

By the same logic, why do people keep and look at old family photos, or home movies?
We like to relive poignant moments in our lives, get back in touch with the emotions of those moments.
And it can be instructive to do so. See the road of where we've been and travelled. Consider. It increases our wisdom!

The book it's based on says he's guilty. The way it was presented last night made it look like he was guilty.

The reaction on black Twitter last night was "of course he's guilty."

The miniseries isn't about guilt or innocence. There will be no conspiracy theories.

This isn't the JFK assasination.

The day before this aired there was a two hour show about the civil trial and they really went into OJ's ten days of his deposition and how they caught him in lie after lie. Also the fact that he got the worst score you can get on a polygraph test. Anyone who still doesn't think he did the double murders is a moron.

Yeah, one wonders. Dominic Dunne died in 2009, never revealing his source. As I recall his article, Her account would have been regarded as hopelessly tainted because she contacted the media first.
