Quick, what's the best way to get not-too-expensive Warriors tickets these days?

I want to send my wife and 7 yr old son to a game, as a gift. Any game. On the schedule, two upcoming 5PM Sunday games look good, because that way the boy won't be out too late. One's against the Sixers, the other is against the Trailblazers. The Sixers suck, so tickets should be "cheap", right? Wrong! Crappy seats, way up in the rafters, $100+. Decent seats, way, way more than that. (This is through the official NBAtickets site.) Hard to believe anybody would pay that much to see a non-special NBA game, but hey, I get it, the Warriors are just a tad popular these days.

Anybody got any ideas? If I wait until a couple days before the game, will the price go down from resellers, or will it go up? (remember... crappy, late-season game) Anybody had good (or bad) experiences getting Warrior tickets from StubHub, or any of the other resellers?

I guess I was born in just the right era... Back when I really wanted to go to NBA games, we could buy 1/2 price tickets (for looking like we might be under 16): Six bucks. Saw Wilt, Kareem, all those dudes. In the early '90s, I got to fulfill a bucket-list item and sat court side. Price on ticket: $110 (seemed expensive, at the time). But now it's all coming back to bite me in the azz, I guess, lol.

Unfortunately, there's no such thing as not-too-expensive Warriors tickets. I'd wait until the day before the game and try StubHub.

I would say go online in November when they sell them to the general public, but I noticed those actually cost more than the ones on the nba site (aka ticketmaster ticketexchange) or stubhub. They warriors know how much single seats go for on the secondary market and price their single game seats accordingly (aka season ticket holders get a discount). Best bet is to wait until the night before or morning of. Sometimes they go up, sometimes down. You can kinda tell by the number of tickets left for sale whether up or down is more likely.

You'll pay less for a midweek game, probably. The Sunday afternoon game is so expensive precisely because other people are thinking the same way you are.

Elaborate way to get the place to yourself, but do you.

I remember the good old days when Warriors tix weren't that expensive......as in 2011!

I don't live in the Bay anymore but I'm not surprised......defending champion NBA team in a region experiencing an unprecedented explosion of wealth = really pricey tix. The Warriors are the new Lakers.

Buy months in advance or pay through the nose. Also crowds hit the entrances very early so if you do get something from StubHub then pray that your tickets are legit and get you in.

We sold nosebleed christmas day against the cavs. Nosebleed upper deck not even a good row. 3 tickets (not even an even #) for $465 EACH. Each.

Last year, my son figured out the best way to get Warriors tickets, but it probably won't work for you. He dated the daughter of a season ticket holder. Got nice seats for a regular season game, and the rafters for a playoff game, all at no cost. Unfortunately for him, the relationship didn't last the summer, so he's stuck with no "best way" to get tickets anymore.

Everything is relative, nothing is cheap, it is a question of what is cheaper, even for a crappy late season game. This year, crappy late season games may have more meaning than others if either the #1 seed is still on the line or a shot at 72 or 73 wins is still on the line.

My experience has been that the "official" resellers through the NBA/Warriors/Ticketmaster USUALLY have some tickets cheaper than the cheapest on StubHub. They are certainly more plentiful. In my experience, the odds of finding something "cheap" closer to the game are better, but you sort of need to get lucky. If it is a crap game, it is close to game time, and a season ticket holder wants to be sure the tickets sell, they may get priced RELATIVELY cheap. The price needed to guarantee that the tickets move late have gone up a lot, however, so it is still really pricey to people like you and me for a crap late season game, especially if you want decent seats.

We'll never go back to when I was 15 and walked in to the ticket office to buy a pair of playoff tickets for the first round against the Sonics, which got me rights to all succeeding rounds, for a price that today would seem dirt cheap. By the time the finals rolled, I was very popular, but only those old enough to drive need apply, since the games in the finals were at the Cow Palace.
