Just thought I would drop a little invitation here for any of you that may be interested in getting into officiating for high school football. I started last season and the experience is a lot of fun. Games are typically scheduled Thursday through Saturday, with Freshman/JV games usually starting around 4/4:30 pm (11/12 pm on Saturday) and Varsity games starting around 7 pm (2 pm on Saturdays). You can decide what days/weekends you are available to work or not work, but new officials will need to make themselves available during some of the Freshman/JV games in order to get experience.
The East Bay Football Officials Association is looking for new officials for the 2016 season. We officiate Freshman, JV, and Varsity games for the West Alameda County Conference (WACC), the Tri-County Athletic League (TCAL), the Bay Football League (BFL/NCL II), and the Oakland Athletic League (OAL). The EBFOA will have meetings starting this summer to review rules and clinics in August to help teach mechanics to new officials. New officials will be assigned to 4 man crews to officiate Freshman and Junior Varsity games, until they are deemed competent to officiate in 5 man crews at the Varsity level.
