Back to English language usage: Okay, so I'm just realizing this now: I don't really know what a tool is (in this particular usage)! IS it a fool? The implication is that it is somebody being "used", right? Is it somebody in a structured organization, just making decisions mindlessly, w/o thinking about them? Yeah, I never thought it was an a-hole. This is fascinating! I'm gonna google it!

A tool (in the human sense) is sort of a difficult noun to define. Kind of like when I was watching Austin Powers with my little cousin and he wanted to know what "mojo" was. I can think of a lot of famous quintessential douches (like Harbaugh or Trump) but the only tools I can think of are people I know or have experienced personally. I guess a good depiction of a tool would be the waiter in Office Space that wears all the swag that Jennifer Aniston flicks off when she quits.

Well, that definition could apply to Mac if Webb indeed played him - & could expand the potential population of tools ! But also unique, not necessarily an a-hole or a douche, though not mutually exclusive either I suppose, so one could be both a tool and a douche, or a tool and an a-hole, etc. ...

Those guys are functionally retarded. Every single point they make is idiotic and/or wrong. How many times can they mention that Cal girls are ugly and CU's are hot? Neither of those dorks have ever been with a hot girl that wasn't seriously impaired. Webb is gonna leave Cal with an opportunity at the NFL and a Cal degree. Ha, they said in the podcast that "Cal sat their entire defensive line in the spring game to get Webb."

Like playing the starters more than they did would lead to a free for all? Maybe they should check returning starters and how many sacks Cal gave up last year before putting out silly theories like that.

Davis Webb will be a first round pick in the next year's NFL draft. Watch Coach Dykes and Coach Spivital work their magic before our eyes. The only complaint on this board will surround us playing in the Peach or Fiesta Bowl on December 31 instead of the Rose Bowl.

As for the Colorado podcast suggesting that Cal held out all their starting dline to help recruit Webb, they need to think a little harder, using their own judgment and logic.

First of all, the whole dline was not held out. There were 1st team reps, though certainly not throughout the scrimmage as to some extent is always the case in a spring scrimmage. And how much sense would it make to artificially create a situation where every one of the QB's the guy you're trying to bring in look better than they actually are just to entice someone else to join them? And if that ill-advised enough, you're going to tell the whole country on a scrimmage televised on the Pac-12 network that Cal has a worse defense than they actually do? How does that help bring in all of the key defensive personnel you're looking to recruit? They'd potentially sacrifice recruiting on one whole side of the ball in order to try and help get one player on the other side of the ball?

This was all about trying to prevent more Demariay Drew injury situations in the last practice of the spring.

I don't understand Cal fans' snootiness towards Colorado. They are a solid program that has struggled the past decade-plus with a bunch of bad coaching hires (much like Cal before Tedford). They won a national championship during the modern era. What exactly has Cal won during the modern era?

Oh sorry. We won the Holiday Bowl. I forgot about that.

The way Cal fans view CU right now is the same way SC fans viewed us back in 2001. I never thought Cal fans would become as snooty as SC. Atleast SC had a few national championships to hang their snootiness on. We have our Holiday Bowl.

CU new kid on the block somewhat. History in Pac 12 not very good in football. Their posters need to chill when they come on with comments. We are aware of their history, but that was history (some time ago under different circumstances). I personally like CU as opposed to UofO, ASU, U$C etc., but they are on our board---act like it.
