Colorado outside of the heights reached under Bill McCartney has mostly been a non-factor in college football, but lately has been far from "solid." Prior to their 1990 Orange Bowl win, their last bowl win was in 1971 (Bluebonnet). They did win the Orange Bowl once previously, in 1957. In the Big-8 from 19481995 they won it 3 times (1961, 1989, 1990). They had a good run in the 1990s but since the turn of the century have been conference doormats in the Big-12 and now the PAC-12. They haven't had a winning season since 2005, and have won only 1 bowl since 2000 (2004 Houston Bowl). Any program that goes 10 years straight with losing seasons is essentially a perennial cellar dweller.

I think the CU posters may be confusing a lack of reverence for a 25+ year old national championship with disrespect. You see this in a lot of different sports from certain fanbases. For example, Knicks fans still think they are a proud and storied championship winning franchise even though it's been 40+ years since their last championship.

At a certain point you have to acknowledge that you are no longer the program you were when you had success if the world has changed. I think Cal fans who point to the mid-2000s and think that somehow people need to ignore recent history and respect us for our prior (but still limited) success are also delusional. History only wins you college football games when it gives you a leg up in recruiting and ancient history (anything more than a few years old really, unless it's dominant history like say Michigan) is about as irrelevant to recruits as anything could be.

His stats were with another team and system ... this is now with Spav and our receivers.

More talking about defense recognition and not making bad decisions. As noted he was a Frosh for most of those attempts. He can make all the throws. He is accurate. But he needs to show that he evolved re:reading Ds. I am confident that if he wins the job he will have made that evolution

I'm hopefully confident that if he doesn't read Ds, he'll get bench time until he does.
Jared's strengths were his footwork and reading D's and following progressions.

Gonna need to work on that footwork a little bit before he goes under center (not Cal's problem lol)...I don't think the NFL is yet incorporating the hop step 10 (tiny) step drop...

How much better was pat Barnes by his senior year. How about Kyle boller?

Granted that had a lot more game experience, but you can learn a ton in those years you are even just the backup.

I think he'll prove to be a much smarter qb now then he was his freshman year.
