I haven't had Blondies since the early '90's... and I still have gas from it.

During school breaks when I would return home to Socal, I would go eat at Tommie's burger and then roll around in pain for 3 hours after eating it. I would forget the pain after 3 months and repeat the process every summer, easter, and winter break. Delight in the taste for 15 minutes, and then roll around in pain for 3 hours. Not very smart.

Last time I went to Blondies was back in spring 2003 - freshman year. The worker used a metal spatula to scrape cold pizza cheese off the metal counter (from presumably another customer's pizza slice), then used the same spatula to grab my slice of pizza. Didn't eat the slice then, and stopped going there altogether.

They weren't even trying to hide their disgusting dirty ways...

Do you eat hamburgers? You know they have cow sh!t in them right?

Blondies used to be great; there are certainly a ton of Blondies fans who would disagree. It was a destination location for many, nothing to do with cost. I preferred it to Top Dog, 100%. Too bad, I bet there suburban location is a big hit!

I will vouch for the fact that as of 1987 Blondies sucked. Went there maybe twice when I was in school. Been back a few times when trying to get to Haas by tipoff and it was the fastest thing available other than the dogfood that is sold at Haas itself. Still sucked.

The only iconic Cal food location worse than Blondies was Kips but they made their reputation on cheap alcohol and a nonexistent carding policy and no one cared what the food tasted like when they were hammered and they probably, sometimes incorrectly, attributed the vomiting to excess alcohol.

Ha. I liked Blondie's in the '80s... It certainly wasn't "gourmet", but a slice of cheese was huge and edible and they were QUICK. "Slice of cheese and a coke" delayed me less than 10 minutes, total, on the way into a Cal basketball game. Of course, I'd need to make it a point to try and eat healthy for the next day or two...

The last few times I went there (this decade), I had to wait 3-4 minutes for that same slice of cheese and it was smaller, with grease floating on top. Fond memories, but good riddance.

We used to order "A thick and a Coke". $1. The only other $1 options were the premade pressed turkey, lettuce, and mega-mayonnaise sandwich at Sandwiches A-go-go or a food cart at the entrance to Sproul that served a cup of vermicelli with spinach. Pretty good.

I went into Blondie's in about 2000 and ordered a thick and a Coke, and the guy looked at me like I was from Mars.

How is Fat's Slice?

I haven't had that in 15 years.....I remember it being good, but it's been so long.

The chili on the Tommy's burger will do that to you.

Went last year for nostalgia, still a big, greasy slice of pepperoni, just like I remember.

Best pizza in norcal? Not even close.

Arizmendi, cheese board, etc. beg to differ. I even prefer fat slice over Blondies.
