I am on mobile (Apple OS v 9.something). Often times when I click on a thread, I see the thread for a few seconds but then get redirected to an advertisement. There's no way for me to scroll back so I have to close the browser and revisit the site/thread again. Is anyone else having this problem? How do I make it stop?

The current ad I keep on getting redirected to is something with Cyclops in it.
I'm getting it over and over again. It's a BIG problem.

I realize this is the free board...I don't mind looking at advertisements for a few seconds but the problem is these ads hijack my browser and I can't do anything besides close it.

And it even auto-opens up my App Store, trying to get to to get some app.
That happens with a lot of apps now... I'm getting used to it ... Sigh ..... Capitalism at work....
Agree it's a pain! I thought it was just me!
Hasn't happened to me here yet (don't use a mobile devise); but the ads are so aggressive now, I've given up on a lot of sites.
Why don't they just turn the Internet into one big infomercial, it's where we're headed.

We didn't set up an ad to do that. I'll pass on this thread and see if we can do something about it.
I haven't had it happen on mobile or pc so not sure what's going on with those that have had it happen.

seems like every part of that that ad, including the 'X' you think would close it, links to and opens up the App Store.

Is this an iPhone-specific problem? I haven't ruin into it from my phone (android, using chrome)

If you're using Safari , try clicking the two squares in the bottom right corner to show a list of windows that had been open. Click the X there. Does that work?
This thing pops up on my iPhone so much it almost makes the site unreadable.. Clicking the double boxes and then the page for cyclops closes the BI thread as well so I have to restart safari and go back to BI..really annoying!
It popped up twice while I was typing the last post, but found that clicking the back button got it to go back to the BI thread if that helps..
I thought I was the only one. I figured my phone had a virus, I was about to wipe the entire phone clean and start all over again.

Don't click on the 'X' to close the ad, in fact don't click on anything on the ad itself (that's what the ad wants you to do). It does hijack the browser, but you don't need to close it. Just hit the back arrow on the browser and it will take you back to the screen you were on before, which for me is often the list of BI forums, from which you need to click into wherever you were again. And then you're fine... until it happens again and you need to do it again.

That pop up ad is unbelievably aggressive and annoying.
If you use a vpn with extra security features you can log all the tracking efforts/"attacks" and their sources (ie from what websites they come from). All due respect to the mods/developers but BI always shows dozens vs 2-3 compared to other sites. Maybe because the ads relentlessly try to open.

This is the worst I've ever seen. You literally do nothing and it just takes over your browser full screen all on its own. How the F is this now considered advertising. Anything to get noticed, right?

This is a rogue advertiser that's within an advertising bundle that we and a bunch of other fan sites use together. There have been issues at a lot of other sites, too, with Cyclops. We're trying to figure out along with all the other sites we work with that use this company how to extract the ad from our bundle. We definitely did not agree to anything insidious like that. Unfortunately, it's not as simple as just calling our ad company and telling them to remove the ad.
In the meantime, if you want to, complain directly to the game maker which is Marvel on their social media links while we try to figure out how to axe the ad:

experienced this today on iOS... i use an ad blocker on my desktop. super annoying. to navigate out of the ad, do not click the X in the upper right hand corner, click the back arrow in the lower left corner.
