I'm in orange county and have family in SD... loosely planning to go to the SDSU game.

Anyone know what the best place to get tickets is? Most people just goign through their office/Cal, or stubhubbing it? How much they are? Cal sections? Any pre-game meetups in the area/tailgates? Experience with Aztec stadium?

Do we know the team hotel yet? Marriott probably?

Although my personal preference would around La Jolla or Del Mar, besides the game.

lots of good hotel options. in la jolla the estancia is sorta a good combo of price and luxury IMO. more businessy is the hyatt, but it's got a lap pool which is nice.

gaslamp the hardrock is fun. US grant is classic. there are many other options as well (hyatt manchester etc)

It's Estancia...looks to be nice should work well for me.

Sounds like you've already settled on Estancia (nice resort hotel, just across the street from UCSD on west side of campus), but if you or someone else is looking at public transportation options, there's a trolley line that runs from the Qualcomm stadium lot. Four stops to the west is the Hazard Center stop, which is very close to the Double Tree in Mission Valley. The trolley also runs to downtown, which has many more hotel options - all in walking distance to trolley stops (SD downtown is really only one-square-mile-ish and very walkable).

Ample parking at the stadium. ($20, and there are very limited options to find free street parking the area.) Traffic around stadium for SDSU games is usually non-existent, especially for a night game. Anyone driving down from north of San Diego County on game day should probably give themselves some extra time, as you would be traveling south with normal Saturday traffic (usually backlogs near San Juan Capistrano and Oceanside/Carlsbad).

padres are in town playing the rockies, likely for the cellar of the NL west. Could be fun... and probably cheap. Petco is nice and easy for those staying in the gaslamp.

Don't large conference visiting teams usually stay at the Manchester Grand Hyatt?

I'm going to be contacting Qualcomm and see if I can set up something in the parking area from my restaurant.

My location isn't too far away but I ask you to not pay attention to the reviews because I just took over the place this week

I'd much rather prefer to do something on site and just charge you as you come by to eat. An accurate headcount would be great for food prep. Lots of red tape to go through but I'll see what I can do.

The brink and mortar isn't too far away. 10-15 min drive from the stadium.

Oh we don't serve alcohol so BYOB to the parking lot if this happens.

L&L Hawaiian Barbecue.

Here is the location I just took over.

Here is the one I opened a couple months ago.

I'm having an employee meeting next week to introduce myself to the staff and tell them to get it in gear or else they will be terminated.

I'll get the place ready for the Old Blues.

Wish me luck

P.S. I'll be sitting in P5 for the game. Anyone close by?

I bought a group, but have the same question as to where to stay- in past years team was at Marriott by the harbor, an easy tram ride to the stadium.

I was able to pick up a couple tickets in Club Section 8 (25 yardline on visitors side) for $41 each through Ticketmaster. Seats lower down are actually less. At the last Holiday Bowl, we went to eat in Old Town and took the trolley, which is less of a hassle than parking at the stadium. Hoping to have better luck at Qualcomm than my last four times (two losses to SD fu&king State and two Holiday Bowl losses to Texas teams).

We booked a pretty great house in Hillcrest. Pool, outdoor living area/kitchen etc.

I got mine through vivid seats. 13th row. 50 yd line section. Cal side of field. 50 bux before fees. dunno where the "cal" section will be but it probably won't be on the 50 yd line.

Bought 8 on-line through the Cal ATO. Don't know the section but it said mid-Club level. Does anyone know what that means?
moonpod

club level is the second level under the press boxes.

it goes field level to plaza level (really not much difference) and then club level

If you paid $41, you'r in sections 2,3,11. If you paid $31, you're in the EZ.

I received this in an email on 7/21. I was not planning on going to the game since I had a total hip replacement on 7/11, but I am recovering faster than I expected. Now I am hoping to fly out of Oakland for the game. Is anyone else going to this tailgate or the other one I saw in this thread?

Hi all...Here is some advice for game for visitors.

Qualcomm Stadium seats about 78,000 fans. On games where the attendance is 25,000 it is hell to get in the Stadium and hell to get out of the Stadium after the game. Why? To many reasons to explain.

If you are driving...get there way early and tailgate. The lines to get into the Stadium parking lot can take you forever, even on small attendance nights. Have fun and enjoy it.

DO NOT try to walk into the Stadium from the parking lot 30/40 minutes before the game and think you are going to see the kickoff. The lines are very long and slow and there are very few gates open. Yes, that is even with 25,000. I tried to enter one home game last year (about 22,000 attendance) about 30 minutes before the game. They had very few gates open and by the time I got to my seat I missed 5 minutes of the first quarter. This has been a problem for years.

If you are coming on the trolley...get there early also. The lines to get into the Stadium from the Trolley side are very long. And don't think you are getting out of the Stadium quick after the game on the trolley. It is going to take you a long time to get out.

Now...with those notes above, keep in mind they are expecting up to 45,000. So double my advice above.

Enjoy the game, have fun, and to keep your frustration levels to a minimum by getting into the Stadium early.

For hotels, stay on the trolley line anywhere from downtown to Old Town to Mission Valley. All are convenient to the Stadium.
