we should not be taking commits from QBs who are wavering. If this is true then we should just cut him loose.

Does SC want him?

None of SC's millions of fives star qb's are panning out?

Seriously, people? It's as if no one's ever heard any baseless recruiting rumors before. We shouldn't be taking ccommitments from QB's who are wavering? We shouldn't have to be kept dangling?
Sounded like bs to me so I went to Garbers to see what he had to say.
His answer?
I'm not sure where you heard that but that's 1,000% false... I'm a Cal Bear hands down, USC hasn't offered and why would I leave Cal. Cal is a tremendous place at all angles. If USC offered that would be sweet cause it's a home town school but at this point it would take a natural disaster to wipe out Cal or something really drastic for me to change my mind! I don't mean to offend the USC program in any way by saying this but I'm a Cal Bear, a Cal Quarterback and I'm trying to build my class to be the best! I'm all Cal.

sounds like a lot of ambiguity and uncertainty. I can see where the rumors are coming from
Does Sonny Dykes leaving for the Baylor HC job qualify as a natural disaster? Just in terms of recruiting.MoragaBear;842711015 said:

I don't think so.

I think maybe he meant before Garbers signs in the winter.

Who knows what will happen in coming years? I wonder when Baylor's going to try and make a permanent hire or how open they are to hiring Grobe permanently if they have a solid to good season.
And no, Garber's won't come in early but LOI day is in the winter, too.

Lol. If you want to be critical about their recruiting that would be the position

Well, I don't get to go to Garbers or in BB Matthews, so unless someone dispels those rumors over time you don't necessarlly believe them, but combining a lot of dots you may guess at things. I didn't hear anybody saying it was true. Just hearing. So the more you, MB, disseminate, the more we know, the less we guess. Until confirmed or denied there is reason to question. But yes, rumors they are.
Things I can't figure is that Matthews was in the sweet spot at Cal. He was to be a senior, a much valued player, much loved by Cal fans (myself included), with the prospects of a great senior year. Somehow that crashed. Can you tell me emphatically that Matthews, all by himself, just up and wanted to leave Cal in his senior year when he was a highlight player? And if he did, can you even admit that it is a bit implausible to those who are not in "the know". In that you do know, I realize it is not up to you to reveal all, but at the same time don't make light of Cal fans who "wonder out loud". I hope you can appreciate that.

well here's something yall can freak out about re: Garbers
Garbers just followed Furd's David Shaw, Mike Bloomgren (OC), and Tavita Pritchard (QB) on twitter.
MoragaBear;842711124 said:
There's a vast middle ground between someone hearing a rumor and saying I hope it's not true to saying Cal blew it by taking a commitment from a quarterback who was wavering and complaining about leaving fans dangling when it was a bs rumor to begin with. It's called jumping to conclusions and believing everything you hear and it has nothing to do with Mathews' situation.
OdontoBear66;842711135 said:
You are totally missing the point MB....There is nothing wrong with people casting about innuendo, or rumor, when in fact, it is not fact, nor do they imply it is fact. This is the internet. If you want to stop that, and if you think Cal fans are stupido for even suggesting rumors, then dispell them in a blink. I think that leaves fans dangling, but then coupling it with believing every thing you hear is absurd. That thinking only serves your purpose of argument. No one sez that.
My example with Matthews serves purpose, which you choose not to answer. Until told I am wrong, wrong, wrong, I think the combination of Phil Matthews being a coach of great repute, of our Matthews seeking transfer at the pinnacle of his career sez something. I am not sure what for no one is talking and basically sez don't worry. Then Jonah chooses to go to SC which can be simply Jonah. But put it all together and it sure as hell suggests possibilities of which we do not speak here.
ps. And the more solid Garbers is the happy I am...
Now, I for one, do not like that, for I think our BB program is on a tremendous upswing with CM (and I loved MM too). But I am on a Bear "Insider" network and we just don't discuss the real "why". Your stage, your call, but I don't have to like it. So do what you've gotta do, but I have hung here back from early Cyberbears days and really just want to know what is going on at my alma mater.

Jordan wanted to join his dad--get a grad degree. He is not athletic enough to make it at the next level and instead wants to become a coach so in the following year he will be the GA. He will have played for multiple great coaches and that will be great on his resume. He will have a B.A. from Cal and an M.A. from Gonzaga all paid for through basketball. Smart for him, kinda sucks for us, but we will be over it a year from now. This is his life.
Jonah made his own decision. I am fairly certain it is a matter of a guy from L.A. want ing to stay in L.A.
