My Dad graduated from Cal in '81 and has had season tickets ever since. Section U has been my second home and my love of all things Cal has been passed down to me from my Dad. He was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma in April and has been undergoing chemo, radiation, blood transfusions and more since then. While he is responding very well to treatment, his immune system is completely shot and therefore will miss at least the first half of the upcoming football season. He will be in the hospital for the Hawaii game and so will the family. The hospital will probably hate us after that!
The reason I'm posting here is he was surprised today with an incredibly uplifting gift from family friends and fellow Bears. I've attached a picture. It truly touched my Dad and I haven't seen him this happy and full of life since treatment started. Cal is such an enormous part of my family's life and I know it is to all of you as well which is why I wanted to share.
It will be weird sitting in Section U row 47 seat 3 with out my Dad sitting next to me in seat 4 but I know I will have all of my fellow Bears with me.
