I was pleased to see the cannon in use last night (especially how often they got to use it). I wasn't expecting that. Did they actually take the cannon with them or was it a locally sourced ordinance? Inquiring boomavores want to know.

According to ESPN.com: "We spoke with the cannon operators pregame and the cannon was brought in from a country town five hours from Sydney called "Wagga Wagga." The two tests of the cannon pregame were so loud that it actually broke two microphones. The Sydney crowd absolutely loved the cannon, which was fired after every Cal touchdown."

Great story! Thanks. I figured they probably hadn't shipped the cannon down there.

Wagga Wagga? Gotta love those Aussie place names.

Ah, the danger of actually using a real cannon; Stanford learned that train horns are safer...
