Yah running a play essentially gave up the game, fumble or not. Who cares if we scored 7 with 0:00 on the clock?

Seriously at least we aren't getting blown out. That was a stupid loss but at least we were in it.

Field position was a killer for us tonight.

Ugh. That second half... that's college football for you.
I actually see a lot of promise in this team, they're just young. Everyone's going to pile on Spav and Dykes, but I actually see the foundation of a solid team here. Cal will be ok. This year, gonna be tough to get to a bowl, but I really feel the future is good. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see them turn around and smack Utah. Team has a ton of talent and ability, just a matter of putting it together. Tough loss, hope they can put this behind them.
Go Bears!!

This is year 4 of Dykes and we're still doing the same ****...

I'm reminded of a game in the desert from two years ago. We lead in that one at halftime as well. The 2 TD cushion is nice, but the team needs to keep doing work.

We lost because of turnovers. Period.

Such is the life of the Cal fan, what more can we expect? It's hard to recruit and develop good teams consistently when:
* You won't pay staff
* Your University basically doesn't give a crap about you
* It's hard to recruit because you have a history of not being a top tier program
* Cal Fans.

In 2013 and 2014 we had a pretty bare cupboard, and if not for that Hail Mary in Tucson we would have gone to a bowl in 2014. 2015 we had some experienced and did alright. This year we are retooling, but there is potential. We aren't getting blown out on the road, yet.

I miss old JT and Cortez..not gonna lie.
Strykur;842735145 said:
It is, in 2012 we sucked and it was a bore. Even in 2013 when we went 1-11 I saw some funny stuff. At least we make it interesting.
bearsandgiants;842735212 said:
I would take this, and my chances against KJ, over JT. The second half was like watching a pet die of cancer in a state where euthanasia is illegal.

Why would you retool with a grad transfer at QB?
MinotStateBeav;842735218 said:
I'm gonna rewatch the Cal/Michigan State game before I crash...I need to get rid of my meltdown mode. It was fun watching Cal put a team away on the road.

You have to play the best kids you have. We are not the type or program that has time and resources to "rebuild". If you have a player you gotta put him in. Webb crapped the bed the 2nd half tonight, but overall I think he's the right choose and he's legit.

Sorry to keep disagreeing with people but...I disagree. Webb is nothing special at all. He's just a system QB who accumulates numbers. His footwork is suspect, he gets locked on to a route/receiver and throws the ball no matter what, turns the ball over way too much and does not manage the offense (delay of game penalties with this offense? Really?). He has zero skills that make you think he's special. Some stupid team will fall in love with his stats and measurable, but they'll regret it. We are going to suffer next year for not playing one of the younger guys this year during a mediocre season.

Webb is nothing special but he's a senior QB with experience in this system, which is the best we got.
You make him sound like Zach Maynard.

Yeah Jesus he easily ranks higher than Longshore, Riley and Maynard in the post-Rodgers era.

It's early yet in conference play. With the exception of possibly Furd (gotdammit), every team is beatable.
