I'm planning on going to NC next year and using the women's bathroom. If anyone gives me any crap - I'll have a pie waiting for them!!!

I'd rather we play a real university with a semblance of integrity anyway.

Depends how long. With enough time we can buy an fcs game at home by outbidding their scheduled opponent. Maybe offer Sac State an extra 50k to play here instead of at Idaho that weekend.

Awe, I was hoping we'd run onto the field with a pride flag.

Don't you mean "pee" waiting for them?

Are we legally prevented from playing there, or would that be a political decision to boycott imposed by the University? Either way, it would be an unfortunate choice to not travel to UNC.

It'd be stupid and reactionary considering that the communities of both universities and cities are in agreement on this issue, plus it's a great road trip

The bill says State of California employees cannot be ordered on mandatory travel to North Carolina. It does not prohibit travel at all.

Big question is what would we have to pay UNC to back out. We do have a legal contract with them...

Could the game to rescheduled to a neutral site somewhere kind of near NC, but not in it? Georgia Dome is 380 miles from Chapel Hill. Chapel Hill to FedEx Field in Landover Maryland (home of Redskins) is only 270 miles. The UNC AD might accept that.

Why would he accept that? They'd just scrap the series and replace us with one of countless other P5 programs that have no qualms about a home and away in NC.

Was in NC two weeks ago for the Niners game. Was shocked to see a designated gender neutral bathroom at the only decent restaurant in Davidson. Did speak briefly with the most famous Davidson parent of all time, Dell Curry, who said Steph moved to Alamo.

Charlotte used to be a big ass version of Mayberry that made present day Sacto look like NYC, but now it's a nicer version of Atlanta. Had a few post game pops a block from where the worst rioting was.

Every college and university plus UNC in NC sincerely opposes HB2. Chapel Hill is a terrific town, but our crew was already luke warm on next year's roadie even before HB2. Probably going to Boulder instead.

You don't just scrape contracts where teams have pay outs, and its probably not a Governor's call. This has a lot of implications, which could adversely impact the conference if the California schools break contracts. Retaliations by the ACC and SEC could be ugly in theory. That said, its an academic discussion. I can't see the bill being enforced at the time of the Cal game (worse case there is injunction against enforcement while the legislation is travels through the federal court system). Same with similar legislation in other states. You never know with the Supremes, but I can't see this form of legislation surviving given recent Court decisions. its not my area of law, so if any Constitioanl lawyers want provide input, go for it...

There is no evidence what ever that the University of North Carolina or its students support this new law. I don't see any great principle being adhered to by anyone who elects not to go to a game at Carolina because of this law. If the University supported this, I would understand wanting to send them a message. The better message here would seem to be Support the Bears by going to the game.
