Defense was gritty and tough while short-handed. And they were on the field almost the entire game. HUGE effort by the defense! So proud of these guys!

Amen! Best defensive game I have seen in awhile. It looks like they are getting better every game.

For our much maligned D to really earn this win (and let's be honest, his was absolutely their win) was just amazing. Couldn't be happier for them.

They were on the field for over 41 minutes and got it done. Seriously bad*ss. Best defensive effort in years IMO.

Their passing game seemed a bit above competent to me. They just wanted to run clock.

Saw Webb after the game, and said "How about that defense?" He responded "They did it for us.They were awesome." I did tell him that we need a blowout, as I'm getting too old for games like this. He, of course, agreed that this was a good idea. Having taught and coached high school athletes, it's such a pleasure to see such great kids representing Cal.

The defense has played well for 2 1/2 games now. Very happy to see that it may stick.

Forgot that DA was out. A lot of guys played snaps today. Nice experience.

I admit, I did not see that goal-line stand coming. I'd written off the game after the PI call, to be honest. Best defensive moment of the Dykes era, by far. Totally shocking.

I too was shocked. I was holding out hope but pretty much expected Utah to score. The D was outstanding when it counted most. I also didn't expect that stop on 4 and 1 earlier in the 4th. At that time utah was 4 for 4 on 4th down and most weren't close. So happy that a game like this went our way.
Imagine had the rolls been reversed. If Cal had totally dominated statistically like utah did and lost after not being able to get in the end zone 3 times from the 1, I would be miserable right now and this board would be in a total meltdown.

Such an amazing effort! To hold off that touchdown after the PI took every bit of strength they had left!!!

defense had a great game ... with the historic goal line stand vs #18 Utah, plus the other stop on 4th down earlier in the game
with 4 starting DBs out for this game too
