I think I once had that exact same ottoman (while in grad school at Cal, no less)

My first ottoman was when I started making real $. In grad school I had a futon and a toothbrush.

Actually I think it was Marloshawn Lynch, I mean Franklin, that was fighting off the block of the WR and set up outside of the runner. I think the RB realized that he could not get outside and around Marloshawn and then turned it up field only to be hit by three you mentioned. Collectively a great team D play.

Great play by Marloshawn too, I didn't mean to leave him out. But I'm certain about Vanderbilt. He never actually got outide the rb but seems to have convinced him that he would beat him to the spot. His hustle was fantastic. In fact watching more of the game again he was showing up a lot. He had a great game.

I have watched ALL the games, not just the last quarter of the Utah game.

WTF are you watching? Downs is a dynamic player. I watch him all the time because he causes havoc. He caused the 4th and 10 with his blitz. He also saved the day on the 1st and goal at the 2 where the RB ran outside. Yes, it was davison and #7 safety that tackled the guy but Downs ran from all the way from the middle to push #7 vanderbilt as the RB was going to carry him into the endzone. Watch the play again. If all 3 defenders (including downs) were not there, his momentum would have easily carried him into the endzone.

What's more, there would be every reason to believe that he would be better next year. When you look at our greatest defenders, most of them had BY FAR their best years as seniors: Ron Rivera, Mychal Kendricks, Deltha O'Neal, Cameron Jordan, Andre Carter, to name a few.

To an extent, CAL6371 was correct in that Downs has not, historically, been a consistent play maker for us. But I think we are seeing him figure it out NOW and he will only get better.
