When Utah was driving (again) in the third quarter, after having had a 9 minute drive in the second, I was sure we were done and I posted as such. I walked away, not wanting to witness the carnage.
Oh, the shame to learn later that we had won...on a stop by the defense at the goal line, no less.
What shall my penance be? I'll be going back to rooting til the end, for one thing.
Don't leave early- Dykes' teams do not quit and play hard until the end of the game. Think ASU and Utah last season, the SDSU game (even though it ended the wrong way), both Texas and Utah this year, and even the ASU game this season. The Bear does not quit is again part of this program for the players, a big step up from where we were 5 years ago, and slowly it is starting to penetrate to the fans as well. Hardly anyone left either home game early.
Yes it's been slow progress, with some missteps and some issues still not addressed, but it has been steady progress building the program back to relevance the right way, and in the face of relentless criticism and many institutional barriers. 1 game at a time, beat the Beavers on the road, but the next step for everyone is a win over one (or more) of the Cali schools and Oregon. Hope we're both there for that one right to the final whistle.
