Okay. I know the answer to this question, but I still have to ask.

I am terribly disappointed and full of empathy for our brethren down on the farm. It's a sad day for all. NOT!

I thought we'd beat Washington and lose to Stanford. Now I think we'll beat Stanford and lose to Washington. So it doesn't impact our standings, but I'll take that tradeoff any day.

Tougher trade-off for Seattle bears

Everyone knows the blueprint for stopping Stanford. It's whether you have the defensive personnel to actually pull it off.

You stack the box and play basically one on one coverage on the WRs. Against a good d, neither the furd qb or the WRs are good enough to beat man coverage especially when you have rushers in the Qbs face the entire game.

But does cal have the defensive personnel? Even if they put7-8 in the box, can they still stop mccaffrey?

If they send extra pass rushers every time and leave their corners on an island, will our pass rush actually get there in time?

I'm leaning towards no, because Kaufman hasn't shown this type of defensive strategy all year. Even against teams that have strong running games and extremely weak qbs (sdsu and Utah)

On a side note, man the Utah qb was bad. He stared down receivers and not once threw to someone that wasn't his primary. Against better d's, he's going to get eaten alive. Hell, if we had allensworth, we probably pick him at least once.

Definitely. Wins like this bring out the legion of Tyee members (Tyee= the Husky boosters) who start proclaiming this as the second coming of the Don James era. However, UW beating Furd always a good thing.

And it sets up an interesting week ahead. Recent performance indicates this is what's likely:

1) UW wins, gets their cocky meter high.
2) WSU beats Oregon, sets off massive Schadenfreude wave in Seattle.
3) UW walks into game against Oregon (with whom they have an unnatural level of hatred rooted in jealousy) feeling like this is their year
4) Oregon steps up (fueled by the embarrassing loss on the Palouse and overconfidence of the Mutts) and knocks them off in a spectacular fashion.
5) UW fans fall into a deep purple pit of despair.
6) All is right in NWBear's world for a week.
7) Oregon takes this win as a catalyst to run the table and beat the Bears in a last minute heartbreaking fashion continuing our futility.
8) NWBear stand in the rain BBQing in misery.

The opposite will happen. UW will beat Oregon next week and the Floaters will come limping into Berkeley waving the white flag. They would be 2-4 at that point and staring at bowl ineligibility.
