So, I'm debating whether to switch my personal address to the berkeley.edu address....help me out.
Pros:
--My email address is really cool and efficient. I was able to grab a really great name. Think of it like "tony@berkeley.edu" vs. "tony.siragusa56@gmail.com." (Not my real addresses, obviously.)
--The cool thing is that there is nothing before the "Berkeley." I did a lot of Google searches, and nearly every school has an "@alumni" before the domain name, or something like that. (alumni.harvard.edu, alumni.ucla.edu, etc.). Berkeley is offering the "@berkeley.edu." No "Cal.berkeley.edu," which would be cool, but do we really like "Cal Berkeley"?
--Many of you hate the "Berkeley," but it is awesome. I graduated from "Berkeley," one of the most prestigious schools in the world. Being associated with UC Berkeley does have benefits

--I'm not going to totally switch, but I'll just tell new people I meet to hit me up at "tony@berkeley.edu." (Again, not my real address.)
--The @berkeley.edu address is apparently permanent. What if your other domains go under or become tainted. (Hey, I used to have an earhlink e-mail address.)
--Berkeley.edu is, along with 5 other universities, the oldest .edu domain. Yes, we kick Stanford's butt in this category!!

Cons:
--It would feel weird to use a university email address long after you graduated...almost like you're stuck in the past. (But then again, why shouldn't I show UC Berkeley pride with my email?)
--My berkeley.edu email address might result in people prejudging me as a pot-smoking liberal hippie tree-sitter.
