he's visited.

Thanks. One site has no visit date. Just can't imagine committing w/o a visit, and after the HC was fired.

He had an official on December 9th. That's when the wheels went in motion.

Do we have more of these potential flips out there?

The minute we fire Dykes, the defense starts improving.

Spav is the Head Coach at this point. Interim just means that we all know it will not last (or it may). But he has to deal with all of this, and is probably doing a good job. I can't really imagine a scenario where Spav is not on the staff next year as HC or OC. We are mostly interviewing Defensive guys for jobs as far as I can tell, so I think he is committed to Cal.

he may be committed to Cal, but if we don't hire him, then next HC may want to get his own guy, or slightly less likely, he interviews/leaves for elsewhere anyway.

Yes, he does and will.

Another question: Spav is interviewing and wants the permanent job. Is that his only incentive to stay and recruit, etc.? Does he receive a pay bump as interim coach?

His situation with Cal will be determined pretty quickly.

As far as I know, he'd still like to stay as OC if he's not HC.

ND has parted ways with hicks, and Biggins tweets that he's coming to Cal (according to La Mirada coach)

haha, yes!
definitely not who i was thinking of.

was initially concerned that the firing of Sonny was going to affect his decision to flip... is there any indication he has actually signed? or any comment from Hicks himself?

If that's the case I imagine the new coach is not going to honor the quasi commitment of Marquese Taylor.....

If Dykes made a commitment to Taylor, we absolutely must honor it. It is sickening the way coaches lie to kids & then double-cross them. After Dykes' interviewing & the coach who shall not be named double-crossed Cal, the first quality in a new coach must be integrity.

It doesn't matter that the new coach didn't promise this young man anything, the University of California did. If we double-cross him, we deserve all the losses that have been heaped upon us.

Disagree...

College athletics is a big time multi-billion dollar industry. All parties are aware of the potential fallout that accompanies coaching changes. Anyone who believes that recruits are naive is wrong. They know how the game is played.......
