Per the LSU TV schedule, Cal vs. North Carolina only on ACC Network

I am unhappy that Cal vs North Carolina is only being televised on the ACC channel. I am also unhappy that the game is starting at 9:30 am our time. This gives North Carolina an almost insurmountable advantage. I am haunted by memories of the Maryland game. We need to get an athletic director who is familiar with the word "NO". Both the team and the fans get screwed by this scheduling. We need an athletic director who has some backbone.

Would you like to explain why Cal's AD could do something no other AD is entitled to do?

See it's things like this that make me wonder if people actually want constrained authority figures or don't care what they do as long as what they're doing is good for them.

It may end up being syndicated on channel 7.2 - the Live Well infomercial network or maybe one of those Asian stations. Guaranteed ratings juggernaut it will be.

Should be on Channel 20 in the sf bay area

I currently don't have cable, though I'm planning to have cable by college football season.

As of right now, the Cal vs. North Carolina game is the *only* game I can get.

That it's on broadcast TV around the country makes it extremely accessible (unless you live in the boonies -- doesn't Santa Cruz get SF channels?)

I mean, 3 different TV stations in Hawaii will be showing the game.

Wouldn't you agree that the Texas Longhorns AD is one of the most powerful ADs in the country?

Yet he was powerless to stop the Texas@Cal game from starting at 9:30 pm Central Time!

Playing on the home team's timezone terms is part of being the visiting team. That's why Texas players were forced to play football when their body clocks were at nearly 2 a.m.

So we're going to get some variation of this thread multiple times before this game starts, aren't we? Before getting angry, I recommend everyone review this thread first:
http://bearinsider.com/forums/showthread.php?107285-Cal-kicks-off-season-on-ACC-Network

The "ACC Network," as currently constructed, is really just a syndication deal that shows the game across multiple local stations in various markets. In the Bay Area, the station that carries ACC Network games is KOFY, Channel 20 (713 on Comcast HD). If you live here, you'll be able to see the game. If not, here's a list of affiliates that will carry it:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ACC_Network_affiliates

It also seems like the game might be available streaming on WatchESPN, though we're not 100% sure about that.

Cut the cord. ACC is on slingtv for an extra $5 monthly sports pack.

Maybe I should start a 3rd thread to give the answers? Okay, but smart ass comment aside, the key points here were covered in the other thread:
-though schools cut their deals with OOC teams, the TV deals are CONFERENCE deals, and go by the conference that is the home team. So, you can't blame the CAL AD, and actually can't blame the Pac-12 in this case. (One aside-the 930a deal does suck, and I think would be less likely to happen if Cal did OOC deals with teams of conferences not primarily in the Eastern time zone.) I like to think the game at Ole Miss next year will not be early, because it would be an 11:30a start for them....
-the "ACC Network," which starts as a stand alone station in a couple of years, is in fact syndication. Seeing it in California is probably not going to be a problem, elsewhere is still probably a good chance, and, as posted, should be on the WatchESPN app. Not optimal, but though of us who live out of state and use to have to go to bars and have the guy search a satellite...well, its not that bad.

I used to live there, and yes, the cable systems had SF channels.

I live in the Santa Cruz Mountains at the juncture of two canyons. Cell phones don't work here. I can go outside and legally shoot a gun. I've always wanted a rural lifestyle. Now I've got one. I only have Comcast here. The internet is slow. I have complained about it and cannot get Comcast to speed it up. The only SF stations on TV are KTVU and KQED. We only get the PAC 12 channel in low definition.

Amazing, KUSI is the big independent down here. in the low cable numbers between CBS and ABC.
Probably will be the easiest to find Cal game of the season.
(In San Diego we do get all the UA games)

Unless I missed something, I think this list is from last year. Some syndication deals are year to year, so the actual distribution list might still be forthcoming?

Need to learn how to stream WatchESPN to my HDTV from my ipad. At least I have plenty of time to figure it out.

As for the EARLY kickoff, history shows our kids will be asleep and this will most likely result in a L. It should be interesting though, Wilcox & staffs first game, new QB, new defensive scheme, etc etc. UNC has a new QB as well.

It's easy...

Get the app, select your TV provider, and watch whatever they have to offer (a considerable offering of games).

Re: game times...

I remember attending the Cal/Illinois game in the early JT era in Champaign. It started at 11:00am to match the 9:00am PDT time window. Cal won (thanks, Wendell Hunter) and I enjoyed an invitation to a great tailgate AFTER the game.

In other words, the Ole Miss game could kick off at 11:00am.

talking anecdotally, not factually: I think the early ESPN slots are primarily ACC and Big 10. I think the exception is maybe an early slot on the SEC Network...we shall see...
