After giving up 27 and 23 in their first 2 games to south Alabama and UTM I suspect we'll get closer to 40 and I think they get around 35. I'll go 42-38 good guys.

It will be a close game.

I think the game is going to be a lot more low scoring than people think.

I don't think the ole miss defense is as bad as their fans are saying. How many times have we heard the opposing team's fans say one thing and when game day comes it's completely the opposite. I think the ole miss defense has been bored and they are going to come out motivated against us.

I also don't think our secondary is nearly as bad as they showed against Weber st. I think we had some mental breakdowns that are easily fixable and that we are going to get our starting safety back. Talent wise I think we can run with anyone. And I think our defense has a lot of experience dealing with a dykesian offense.

I think whoever wins is going to depend on turnovers and who can score more efficiently in the red zone.

How is their OL?
Our DL absolutely needs to get pressure.
That will be the key.
Otherwise it will be a long and disappointing night.

I originally had this game down as a close loss, but looking at it now I see it as a win.

Bottom line, even after last weekend I still see Cal as a 6-win team, and this is win #6. A loss here and Cal is probably no better than a 4-win team. I just don't see this team regressing from last year, they have a much higher ceiling than we saw from last year's team. Plus they already beat a team on the road that's at least no worse than the one we're playing at home Saturday.

They get the win, lose the next three, then find three more wins out of the final six to earn a bowl and recruiting momentum. I still don't see this as an extremely bold prediction.

I tried to get an idea how good Ole Miss QB is. Here is there offense for both games

It's my feeling that their QB gets happy feet. He feels pressure and his eyes come down from his reads and he looks to run. He is pretty athletic though so staying in lanes will be pretty important. Their offensive line quite frankly does not look very good. They struggled to run the ball against lower competition. I think Cal's defense does enough to win this one. Cal 37 Ole Miss 24

We played against running QBs the last two weeks, so we should be well adapted.

I think the spread is just about right, meaning it is anyone's game.

I agree with the analysis that it will boil down to us having to win the turnover battle (implicit is to get points out of them not just keep them from scoring) at home. 6 to 1 in two games is a good sign that we will do that.

Patterson is a running gunslinger. He's mobile, has got a quick release and a good arm but all that running around is going to get him in trouble against better teams. I'm hoping for multiple picks, sacks and hurries on him. DeRuyter is going to dial up some pressure on him. I hope that our coverage against Ole Miss is better than it was against Weber. If it is, I like our chances.

We have to do a better job of converting turnovers into points.

Absolutely, been frustrating as hell. Blow up even the opportunity for 3 when its in hand. Just cant happen.

Can't help but like the optimism. That's a Cal fan. I just think the OM QB is going to eat up our secondary - and we won't be able to score enough to manage a win. Hope I am wrong.

I'm encouraged at our ability to generate turnovers but a little concerned if we have to rely on winning the turnover battle in order to win. Teams that can take care of the ball will win against us.

Our offense needs to be more potent if we want to win many more games this year.

Comfortable that we can win the game IF 1) All Cal Offense Linemen explode off the snap and drive thru to the whistle....on every play and: 2) every play leaves the Ole Miss DL resembling something other than a "meet and greet". Play smart - Play tough!!!

Strip the ball. Beat the Rebels.

This game will prove whether we really have a regime change.

If we don't, we'll have yet another inexplicably really bad TypiCAL game like we've had so many times under late Tedford and Dykes (and last week) and lose.

But if we do, we'll come out a lot sharper than we did last week and smoke these mofos. My money's on the latter, seriously.
