Why are stadium lights on during day games?

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Sort of weird to have them on as they have no effect on the field. For a 2:00 game, they can turn them on after halftime but doesn't make sense for anything earlier.

no expert, but I think it's to provide sufficient lighting on the field for TV. And there was still a possibility of rain for the 2 pm kickoff, no?

The lights were on for Weber State too which was a 12:30 start and sunny day.

I wonder if it's for the sake of the TV look. I mean, as a photographer you still use flash in sunlight to cancel out harsh shadows for example. Not sure if stadium lights would be bright enough, though.

My totally ignorant guess: so that there's no abrupt transition between daylight and artificial light, caused by turning on the lights mid-game.
