I'll be going to the Big Game. What are the best options for parking?

When I used to go to the Big Game at Stanford, I always parked at Palo Alto HS. It was a fair price and right across the street from the stadium. I have no idea if it is still in the mix of available parking.

If you're not tailgating and you want to avoid the heavy traffic leaving the game, and you're a cheapskate, and you don't mind a little walking, the place I always park is on Lowell or Tennyson, near Emerson, and then I walk on Churchill to get to campus. Use Oregon Expressway to get in and out.

Yes, it's still available. Cost is $20. Easy in and easy out. Use Oregon Expressway to avoid after game traffic. Access lot off Churchill.

I used to take 101, use the Willow exit, take Middlefield to Lytton, and go to High...it is near the Cal train station, a bit of walk to the stadium, but free street parking and getting out you avoid lots of traffic.

For free parking--I sometimes park on the east side of El Camino, down by the Sundance Steakhouse, or at the Stanford Shopping Center.

Lots of folks park in the neighborhoods near the high school (east of El Camino) and it's not a bad walk.

We usually come in the backside off of 280 down Page Mill and park on the college-named streets that run into the edge of the campus. No traffic, a 20-minute walk to the stadium, and easy in-and-out to 280. Distance-wise longer to go down 280 from across the bay but no traffic.

Thanks for the suggestions. I hope to see some of you at the game tomorrow.

From a traffic standpoint, the back way (280) is much better and plenty of parking if you don't want park in campus and walk.

I love the tailgating environment at Stanfurd Big Games! For many years, we got there super early and parked right across from Angell Field, for free.

About 15 yrs or so ago, they changed that to Furd Donor parking. I even tried to set up there anyway, claiming long-time precedent, but they kicked me out, so I think now they direct us to Lot 9 (?). About 6-8 years ago, they started charging $20. I hear they upped it to $40 this year, the *******s. Also, it can be hard to get outta there, afterwards. Still, the 3 hrs before the game make it worth it. Any Big Game pre-game party is better than any New Year's Eve party I've ever been to.

We'll be arriving at about 1:45. Let's make it Our Domicile, then leave with The Axe!

Yep, it's $40. for Campus parking. Other parking suggestions are good. And 280 down Page Mill is the best way to get there. Only reason for paying the fee is for handicapped parking.

You just earned a life-long competitor for those spots. Thanks!

If you're driving from the City, take 280, exit at Sand Hill Rd and go to Quarry Rd near Arboretum to access the parking lots across from the hospital. I've parked there the last couple times before going to my tailgate nearby. It's a really popular place to park because it's a bit closer than the shopping center. It's hard to get much closer than this for free parking.
