A review of the last 30 years revealed the following:

2017 matched the 2001 results. That year, Cal also had zero 1st and 2nd team guys and 4 HM's.

I think the 2017 numbers demonstrate what a great job Wilcox and his staff did in coaching the team. They were left with very little to work with by the previous administration and came within a missed two point conversion of being Bowl eligible.

Compare that to the 2001 season data if you have to stomach for the exercise...

Totally agree 71Bear, Coach Wilcox has shown that the whole of our team is greater than the sum of the parts. Fantastic coaching and team building this year.


And a better way for me to phrase my original comment was this was the fewest and lowest ranked All Conference members I could recall.

Gotta figure Downs would have landed higher if he hadn't gotten hurt at mid-season. Didn't he win Pac12 DPOW a couple of times early in the year?

Twice.

Essentially, a coach like JW adds a star-and-a-half because of how he implements his system and instills belief in his players that they can win and should work together. To me, the running of PLaird epitomizes that.
