Looney Accepts East-West Shrine Game Invite
TAMPA, Fla. – Former Cal defensive end James Looney has accepted an invitation to play in the 93rd East-West Shrine Game to be held January 20, 2018, at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. The contest will be televised live by NFL Network and is scheduled to kick off at 3 pm ET/Noon PT. A radio broadcast of the game will also air on Sirius XM NFL Channel 88 and beginning January 14 the East-West Shrine Game Radio Network will cover activities during the week leading up to the contest via TuneIn.

James Looney, DE, 6-3, 280, Sr., 2L, Lake Worth, FL (Wake Forest/Lake Worth HS)
• Earned honorable mention All-Pac-12 and Cal's Co-Most Valuable Lineman (Brick Muller Award) honors
• Started all 12 games for the second consecutive season and contributed 41 tackles as well as a career-high 9.5 tackles for loss (career-high -42 yards), a career-high-tying 3.5 sacks (career-high-tying -22 yards), a career-high three quarterback hurries, a career-high-tying one forced fumble and a career-high two fumble recoveries
• One of only five players on the team and three on defense to start all 12 contests
• Had at least 1.0 tackle for loss in six of his final seven games
Daniel Lasco, currently a member of the New Orleans Saints, was the most recent Cal player to participate in the contest in January of 2016 following the 2015 college football season. Lasco had a game-high 62 yards rushing in the 2016 East-West Shrine Game to lead the West to a 29-9 victory.
