I thought Jim Mora slammed Rosen to drop him in the draft and keep him outta Cleveland...
Heard Saban say similar things about coaching CFB players these days. Players don't just follow orders any more. They do want to know the 'Why' of it.
Makes sense, as how does one know if a coach, especially in college, is doing something for the player's benefit, or for the benefit of the coach's own pocketbook.

In watching the new season of Last Chance U, I am struck by the extent of this. Having played some football in high school (yikes about 20 years ago), that not how I'd expect players to speak to their coach, or how I'd expect coaches to speak to each other. One coach damn near threw hands at the head coach during a game. The players openly question coaching decisions and insult coaches within earshot during practice and games. It's wild. I wonder if it's the culture this coach cultivates, or if it has more to do with the JC environment (the coach in the previous two seasons had similar issues). Or is it generational? Or has it always gone on to some extent at this level and because I never played, I don't know (after all, I was a boy and college players are men).

Gotta love that NFL mentality, where having "a lot of interests in life" and "wanting to know why" gets you dinged.
That said, I'm not exactly wishing for the best for Mora. My the fleas from a thousand camels nest in his shorts.

It is part of a UC education to not accept authority at face value but to want to understand the reasons why we are being asked to do something. A coach who wants to be successful at a top academic institution needs to be able to explain why he is asking for something to be done (and needs to understand that for himself).
I am gratified that my prediction of Mora's eventual demise at UCLA came to pass.
