Yes, I follow the Cal cheerleaders Twitter account. I follow a bunch of things Cal related.

So far, they've profiled five cheerleaders and their internships this summer.

And I've noticed a trend:

That's fun tbh. Clearly, they come from money.

My best summers were spent doing summer session on campus, most chill times of my life. Of course student expectations have changed since then.

Oh, give me a break. Based on their look? Their threads? That kinda assumption sucks. My gdd just finished an internship in NYC with Pfizer, has worked her sorry arse to get it in the first place, and convinced PFE they need to look at Gtown student athletes more closely for internships in the future. Hard work, perseverance, not privilege gets you there. She had NO priviledge in this matter other than recognition of G'town as legit like Cal.

Huh? Who said anything about privilege? Who said anything about not working hard? I made my assumption on the fact that they're interning in freaking London. You projected the rest. This should not offend you or trigger you in any way.

Are you really so sensitive that you can't openly entertain that yes, it's liklely that cheerleaders who attend an elite university and also intern in London prob come from money? Okaydo brought up that this was a trend. I added that fam money is likely a part of that trend.

Of course, it's possible that this is 100% a Cal sponsored program. That would be cool, especially if they cover relocation and living expenses.

Merit may have gotten her the internship, but it sure as hell didn't pay for her to live in NYC for the summer. Unless it was a really well paying internship.

How dare you!

I'm only a "creepy internet pervert" when it comes to my one true love.

Sorry. Fully paid plus housing (use NYU dorms in summer and relatively inexpensive), and she banked in a Roth IRA her max for the year. But yeh, monied as "socal" likes to intimate. Oh, and worked her sorry arse off too, and will probably be offered a full time 2 year post grad job with housing subsidy. But her love for NY diminished in less than the 10 week internship. Little scary getting to Randall Island for soccer practice and games until you figure out the ropes. Looking at Hoboken or Brooklyn as alternatives. Is a SoCal 'burb girl who also absolutely loves G'town. As do I. Maybe the only campus other than Cal that sez "I wanna go back to school even at my age"

Having lived in NYU dorms I'd say the key word here is relatively - and that being relative to Manhattan.

If you want to live in cheap Manhattan real estate, the way to do it is as a medical resident. The pay is lousy but the housing subsidy makes up for it.
