I really don't get it. Now, if you employ a scumbag, you can get tossed aside? When did we all become the morality police? When does it stop? It's just so ridiculous. Courtney Smith was fine with Urban Meyer being in charge until her husband got fired. But what choice did he have? He was damned if he did, damned if he didn't. And how does firing the guy help the situation? If he loses his livelihood, you think that will make the situation better? You think Ray Rice being blackballed by the NFL made life better for his wife?
Yup, you really don't get it.
A $7.6 million per year coach who holds enormous powerful and responsibility may have egregiously violated his contract.
VIOLATED HIS CONTRACT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's what this is all about.
Also, he possibly egregiously lied to the media last week.
If he egregiously violated his contract and covered up for an alleged abuser, and then lied about it -- well, he is a terrible leader isn't he?
And firing the guy sends the message that domestic violence is bad and not to be tolerated. A football program, especially a family-friendly overly scrutinized one, doesn't want to be associated with domestic violence.
Just like a family-friendly football program that I happen to be a part of doesn't want to be associated with prostitution and sex trafficking.
This guy was given way too many chances -- he doesn't deserve his $340,000 a year salary.
If you keep giving the guy chances, you're sending a message that abuse is okay. And the cycle will keep repeating itself.
