I know it's 9:23am as I write this, but I went online to check out the writeups in local papers and see nothing on the SFGate site? Maybe I'm not looking correctly? But I see a lot of stanford coveragel, not one mention of Cal's victory over BYU.

Anyone else having the same problem?

Short article on SF Chron website. Weak. Better on Mercury News site.

Instant 24 hour coverage thanks to technology. And I don't recall them missing other games that were late night.

sfgate literally just posts the same articles about burning man, techies living in unconventional housing and trump.

I stopped reading SFgate about 2 years ago. Basically they report a little local news and show a lot of real estate and food porn, with a little pop culture on the side. Being very SF-centric, I think the new reality in SF is just boring.

Rusty Simmons was there last night and published his story 45 minutes after the game.

Obviously the Chron needs to do a much better job of making it accessible to readers.

I still haven't found the sfgate article on the game, but they did put one up on the front page on UCLA being ranked above Cal in the latest US News College rankings...

Three good articles. Didja know that Garbers went 13/15 passing in the second half? That our three TD drives were 79, 80 and 85 yards? That Evan weaver implored Cal fans to show up in person for the games?

This quote from Weaver breaks my heart. I must admit I just fundamentally don't get the people who spend thousands of hours reading and posting on this site, live in the area and yet (sometimes proudly) talk about how they never come to games. It just blows my mind. The kids deserve the support.

Quote:

"Everybody balled," Weaver said. "... Where we're at, from where we were at last year, huge strides. You can just tell that this defense wants to come play every day and dominate the football every single play. ...

"It just shows everyone how much we want it this year, and it should show the Cal fans: 'Maybe we should come to some games this year,' because we're ready to play and we want you guys there."

None of you mentioned that the Chronicle's Fitzgerald is the biggest "homer" for Stanford and he always gets at least one or two Stanford articles daily in the paper. Plus pictures galore. Can't stand him!

Coverage is finally in this morning's (Monday) printed edition of the Chronicle. Afraid we're going to have to get used to Saturday night games ending after the Sunday paper's home edition deadline. And, yes, the SF Chronicle website is better than SF Gate.

I wouldn't know about that. I don't read the stories about Stanford!

I read the articles about Stanford so as to better know the enemy. FitzGerald does a great job... of getting me fired up for Big Game! Most all of his feature articles on Furd players are similar: Shamelessly hyping their ability (conveniently leaving out the part about the PEDs), their character and their academics. Even acknowledging that a fair amount of what he writes has some truth to it, it makes me sick.

That place is full of Furd homers. Has been for years. As for content even outside of sports, it's useless.

I believe sfchronicle.com is the newspaper, online, which they want people to subscribe to, whereas "sfgate.com" is a free site with less content and more clickbait-type ads ("chronicle-lite", if that's even possible, lol).
