IMO generally better later, but in this case, it works out well--UO has to play Furd while we are off before we meet.

With the number of things we have to clean up offensively, I think an extra week of preparation before Oregon is a good thing.

The game against Stanford was after a bye last year and I'd say they showed up in that game, even if they didn't win the game.

One year we had a "bye" on the last week of the season. That was a brutal schedule.

Given the weight of the schedule, this bye puts Cal in the best position to secure a bowl before injuries start piling up during the most difficult part of the season. Better to be a full(er) strength for the more winnable games.
