Can't find him on any pro rosters.

Cut by Patriots in Sept.

Chad made some amazing climb-the-ladder catches in his time here. Good hands, good size and decent speed. I hope he doesn't give up his NFL dream because I still think he'll be a good one in the right situation.

Like Chris Harper and Kenny Lawler...probably should have come back for his senior year instead of declaring early.

Depends on if he graduated or not (or is very very close). Football-wise, I'm not sure how another year here would've made him that much better as a pro. Don't get me wrong, I'd have loved to have had him play for us one more year. Heck, we could really use him THIS year.

Same with Lawler.

He would have if he known Sonny was gone and Wilcox was the HC. Another reason why the former AD's timing sucked.

Would have been great for Cal football if Chad Hansen had stayed, but can't blame him for leaving. If he needs to come back to finish a degree, he is still better off having played on the NFL according to this:

He's already made $932k, more than enough for a years tuition. Practice squads don't pay jack, but one year on an NFL roster at league min is decent cash, unless you get into huge debt with your agent or something like that.

Wonder how much the AAF will pay and if it will be able to grab those toiling away on NFL practice squads - can see it for older players as a no brainier, but younger players might still want to stick around and rely on hopes of making the NFL.

Are you saying one of the reasons he left was because of Sonny? (We all remember that famous sideline chewing out.) Maybe he was one of the players that gave some bad feedback about SD?

Somewhat ironic, as Wilcox hasn't exactly been a magnet for top receivers. Maybe Hansen could somehow help with this. We need to do something to improve the talent at that position. If only the top prep and JC receivers out there knew...

Crazy that out of all of Sonny's NFL WRs here, the ones that have had the best career are Maurice Harris and Stephen Anderson.

At the time Hanson would not have known Wilcox's offense and with a healthy Robertson and Hanson, the offense might have been different with the deep threats.

As for the exit interviews that forced Williams' hand, there was fairly unanimous negativity regarding Sonny, the coaching staff, and the Cal experience. All that has changed with Wilcox.

Hard to argue he made the wrong decision. Being the top receiver on the #4 passing offense in the country, his stock was as high as it would get and he was drafted in the 4th round earning $932K by age 23?

Compare to Vic Wharton III who was our top receiver each of the last two years.

Personally, I find it hard to find fault with any player declaring in football. It is such a violent sport and most careers are short. Might as well get paid for all of the abuse your body takes.
I hope he finds a good spot!

Chad is a very humble young man. So is his family. I hope he will soon get a chance at another team.
