It's clear we had some play calling issues, BUT the real issue is NO playmakers on offense
No, it isn't. It is true that we don't have enough playmakers on offense. But THE issue is unquestionably throwing games away by unecessrily playing a turnover machine at QB.

Yup, if were gonna go long and throw bombs, thats where you want that arm.

We had every chance to win this game, and we blew on our own unforced errors. For Bear fans, heartbreak is forever,

Wilcox better be making calls and putting out feelers for a new OC. This loss in on Baldy and his piss *****g poor decision making. Unbelievable!

Probably, yes.

And not because Garbers is amazing right now. It's just because he's far better at managing the game.
I doubt it. Garbers is horrible. McIlwain can move the ball, but he can't hold onto it. Garbers can't move the ball. He's awful
Really? Tell me about all the times McIlwain moved the ball in this game.

Garbers is passable for a freshman. The team moved the ball better with him, for the most part.

1. That one jump ball he completed on the deep pass.

Baldy needs to go - the body of evidence this year is statistically significant. The second to worst D in the pac 12 is prolific compared to Cal.

This is a really good point. I hope Wilcox is up to the task: he needs some new coaches/recruiters on offense. Strategy is horrible even acknowledging that we have very, very little talent on that side of the ball.

Seriously, the stakes aren't as high but I haven't been this disappointed in a game since 2006 Arizona.

Baldwin absolutely gave this game away. With the stupid high-risk trick play that he idiotically trusts our turnover machine with (on first and goal!), and almost even moreso with the playcalling on the drive after the missed field goal. To throw it downfield was moronic for several reasons, given that we haven't demonstrated any ability to actually do it, given that it stops the clock when we need to burn it, and given that we have one timeout left when giving the ball back to Wazzu's clock-burning offense.

With even more program credibility - and more importantly, a bowl game which our players should have earned - on the line, Baldwin demonstrated his stubborn incompetence. He gets paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for this? Bullsh__t.

Garbers is not a turnover machine like McIlwain is, not even close.

Our most athletic player on offense is a QB who can't actually play the position...so why not move him?

Garbers may not be the next Aaron Rodgers (or even healthy Nate Longshore), but the OL and receivers are really not helping him.

Save the making calls and putting out feelers part for later. Just pull a Pat Haden and take Baldwin aside tonight after the team plane lands at the airport. Make one of the other offensive assistants the interim OC for the rest of the season.

Oklahoma fired its DC in midseason after a few inexcusably bad games.

I don't agree with your Garbers evaluation. Offensive line was a sieve. Play calling was **** and receivers seldom got open. It's just a mess. Garbers likely serviceable with better support. Not to mention the qc rotation is stupid and ruins rhythm.

You may be right about Garbers, but remember he is a RS FRESHMAN! He got minimal reps during Fall camp. He didn't even play in two of our losses. And he is getting pulled several times per game. We already know what BMac can do. I would love to see what Garbers can do if given a real chance.

Atrocious loss. Ruins any momentum the team had. This is why Cal hasn't gone to a rose bowl in half a century

So frustrated. The only possible reason we're running this offense is to keep a novel two QB system off film for the Big Game... And I'm sorry but that is not even a good enough reason because it is as stupid an idea as it sounds BB.

You can't blame the WRs. Noa, Duncan and Wharton all balled out with Spavital. The WRs are good enough to be better than the worst O in the PAC 12. Blame is 100% on Baldy the tele-tubby.

The team moved the ball because of stupid third down
Penalties by WSU.

You can't play McIlwain. He shouldn't see the field again. But you can't play Garbers either. He's terrible. Too bad bowers was mishandled as is probably going to transfer. Next year will probably look a lot like this one.

Garbers performance so far this season is worse than Bowers last year. That having been said, both are (were) ineffective vs. better opponents. In defense of each of them, this was their first season of D1 football. This just shows how badly we need to get bowl eligible so we have 3 additional weeks of practice. These young QBs, including BM, need it badly.
