what a joke. wasn't he our longest commit? also, i believe he was one of our lowest rated.

Free country. The kid can go to wherever he wants, obviously. No need to be pejoritive toward him, any more than we would to a kid who decided to go someplace other than Cal early on.

We're getting our own flips - teenagers changing their minds is pretty much SOP these days. It also opens another slot to go get the next great receiver or QB, either this year or next. I'm thinking the staff has a raft of recruits they've already reached out to with this scholarship.

That said . . .

Not the that there needs to be an added amount of attention on defensive recruiting but I would love to see the staff go after Bennett Williams, the local talent & Freshman All-American who most recently played for Illinois . I know there was some preliminary contact but never heard anything else. His little brother was quite the player this year as well for St. Francis winning CCS player of the year as a WR. At 6'0, his abilities to high point the football were fun to watch.

I agree and am hoping we go after Williams too. Seems like a great prospect unless there is something going on that I don't understand...

Yeah, don't try and peddle that crap. If they wanted him so badly, they'd have offered him earlier. He was the best backup plan they had.

Kid might be a late bloomer. IDK, 6' 190#, athletic and a hitter? Sounds like a SS to me. Can't have too many of those.

Watch the kid's tape. He has closing speed. The guys he hits are usually going backward. Great get-off from the edge on FG's. Attacks passes in the air and appears to have great hands. He seems to have a good upside and this staff has demonstrated excellent results with guys who are <4* talent. I think he's a solid recruit.

I don't think there are that many high starred recruits are on our current roster. I could be wrong though.

Sure it's a backup plan, but the current staff has demonstrated an ability to locate and develop good fits ... at least on defense.

Yeah, if Coaches GA, DeRuyter and Wilcox want a certain defensive back, I have to believe he's got a good chance to be productive, for goodness sake. Maybe somebody is not their first choice, but he's their choice. Am I gonna sit here in front of a screen and write how I know better than them?
