Is this Stanford's New Strategy as we close the gap in football?

Stanford has now taken our second recruit. Do they see us coming/catching up and this is one of their new strategies to plummet our recruits each and every year from now on right before commitment time? Maybe even consider this part of a new recruiting strategy to the point that our scouting and recruiting guys are doing such a good job that they now work for us and them.

"Hey, its early signing time lets go see what Cal has over there, oh nice." "I'll take that and that right there and that right there."

Each time it is their addition and our subtraction. We replace this DB with another DB that is clearly not in his class. that will clearly eventually have an effect.

Hey, it can work both ways. Wilcox and crew need to start pilfering from the Furd. Screw 'em.

Even when we were good and they stunk, we rarely pilfered from them.

Yeah, seriously, I can't picture anyone over there (or anywhere) saying, "I've got this brilliant new idea - let's go after players they're trying to sign!"

I've read a couple of thing in the past few weeks that the NFL wants David Shaw and he's in consideration for some jobs, like Green Bay. I'll believe that when it happens but I think Shaw will go at some point, like after his kids go college or a similar. All things Stanfurd cycle through. They once had a monster hoops program.

Furd has advantages in recruiting some kids that's specific to them, but so does Cal, just different. Cal has always picked up GREAT Juco players, guys named Rodgers, Roth and dozens more. Cal obviously should continue conventional 4 year recruiting but put some energy towards its natural strengths and advantages. Get the word out Juco is Cal's thing, what the "template" Cal is looking for in individuals, hype up the guys who made it to the NFL like Rodgers, Bishop. Sure some of it's luck but some of it's planning and planting.

Exactly what gap is being closed? If you're talking about the competitiveness gap, wager on Stanford's decline over Cal's ascent any day. They might take care of it with Cal barely having to raise the bar at all. Not the most inspiring prospect if your're a Cal fan, but you take what you can get.

We're still crushing them in number of *** recruits!
