6 TD catches in 24 games (plus possible bowls)? That is not a lot. I would expect much more.....alarsuel said:
We can use all the Jeremy Rosses we can get right now. NFL player, dynamic returner, versatile weapon, etc. Only 6 college TD's, but would've been our best skill player this year (with apologies to Laird) & easily our most frightening weapon. If he matches Ross' TD count over his career, I'll consider that a win.

Reinforces my point even more...calumnus said:71Bear said:6 TD catches in 24 games (plus possible bowls)? That is not a lot. I would expect much more.....alarsuel said:

Ross had 57 receptions and 3 receiving TDs in 36 games over 4 years (including redshirting as a freshman).
I like the staff understands the need and addressed it. Is he a Spring enrollee?MoragaBear said:
They could've easily landed another hs receiver or two that they liked but they prioritized guys who they thought could contribute in 2019 with the lack of experience returning.

Perhaps the HS WRs left on the board are too raw/wrong size, etc. Wilcox knows he needs difference makers now.
I disagree. The staff recognized the need for an IMMEDIATE upgrade at the offensive skill positions and got...rafterfan180 said:
In light of the fact that Cal has made its desperation for WRs known, there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with BB, NE, BT, or all of the above, when Cal cannot recruit a second WR out of high school and has to scramble last minute to offer backup JC options.
I support every player that commits to CAL but the fact of the matter is the offensive staff is probably batting a buck fifty this recruiting season (consistent with the last 2 seasons).
If I was a fan or coach of another Pac-12 school, I am QUIVERING in my boots. Oh man that sounds super scary and too good to be true. Keep sugarcoating the current state of affairs on offense and drinking the koolaid.Big C said:I disagree. + a JC running back who looks good
+ a transfer QB who looks at least as good as what we have now (hopefully Garbers 2019 will be better than this year, too)
+ probably at least 2 JC WRs and perhaps a "mystery transfer" WR who will hopefully contribute right away
I call this problem solving. We made it back to 7-5. If we can now keep that as a floor, instead of a ceiling, the top preps will start coming.

Jesus, let the kid get to Cal and let him play before you Negative Nancies dig in. Who knows how the kid will do but I hope well and wish him the best. Also glad the FB staff is doing their job. Nice pick-up.
Does anyone have that video where Jeremy carried a pile of Wazzu defenders for like 20 yards?calumnus said:Another Bear said:

No, I am really happy about the pick-up. We need more JC players like him. I was only giving the facts on Jeremy Ross's lack of production at WR at Cal despite being a phenomenal athlete and future NFL player.
Agree, more JC players and it appears the staff is on board. They picked up the #1 OLB/edge rusher (Deng). Got this kid, Collins from CCSF/Grant and Modster from UCLA/JC. All those guys should contribute right away and were already on the FBS track or close. Juco guys are one advantage Cal holds and it should be leveraged. Very nice haul. feels like a little momentum. Excellent haul.calumnus said:Another Bear said:
