I wonder how Wilcox will look in about 10 years.
And since we're talking about former coaches I wish we still had Tedford. I'm jealous Fresno State's success, they seem to have supplanted Boise State as the "Bose St of the Mountain West.
It sure would be nice to see Cal football at that level of success again. We're a long way from there now.
If the University had given him the academic support they gave Dykes (and are giving Wilcox), Cal football would be in much better shape all the way around. Maybe we could have avoided that awful academic mandate that we're now stuck with.
*Sigh*
The Tedford you are seeing at Fresno State is the product of:
1) Being fired
2) Having had experienced other jobs in the NFL, CFL and college football.
3) Having experienced a major heart ailment.
4) Learning to work smarter and healther.
Here's an article from just before Tedford coached his first game at Fresno State.
https://www.fresnobee.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/marek-warszawski/article163587588.htmlTedford was 9-18 in the Pac-12 his final three seasons.
Cal had losses of 17 points or more *12 times* during his final three seasons.
Oh, and the academic thing.
He needed to be fired, go through a bunch of bad experiences, then re-establish himself to make a comeback.
It was never going to happen at Cal.
