This is what happens when you have an elite coaching staff. Players want to stay and play.

Funny how D stays and O leaves. I mean it's not funny at all - just painfully obvious why.

I'm looking forward to OLB Goode returning. Should have some solid players returning.

Oh man. This makes me excited for next year. Watching him is a highlight of the game in general.

Huge news. Bynum is a freaking stud. Defense will be lights out next year. Offense just needs to take a couple steps forward and we can beat anyone.

Nice!!! We have a great backfield! You all realize Hicks is our best corner? I know they never call his name, guess why... : ) This defense is amazing, we get most back next year, gonna be pretty sweet!!!

Hold your breath and pray that Weaver stays. He was everywhere tonight. I was surprised by his lateral speed in particular. What a talent.

Maybe its not bc of only the D coaching and team mates but bc what he expects will happen to the O next year. Now that I could see being worth sticking around to see...were that true...I'm clearly feeling desperate after that discouraging O performance.

The loss is not a big deal it's just The Cheez-It Bowl. And if it causes BB to get fired it's a good thing. Lots to look forward to next year esp if we get the offense going.

This is honestly the best news in last night's dumpster fire. Maybe Bynum and others sense that offense coaching changes are on the way?

If not, it's hard to imagine why players like him would stay and D recruits would come - so they can keep playing over their heads only to have it thrown away by an O that gives them no chance to win. But there seems to be no sign so far our D players have lost hope.

He was there tonight in uniform. Had his helmet on at one point, thought he might come in for Forrest.

As many picks as Garbers and Forrest threw, it occurred to me that B-Mac might have represented an improvement last night.

I wonder if it was the coaches' call to bring in Forrest or if it was something the seniors requested. Either way, not a good sign when (barring a catastrophic injury situation) the guy who finished Fall camp as the 4th string QB is forced into spot duty like that.

Great news with Bynum. Hoping we get the return of a healthy Noa.

Lets be real. Bynum is returning because his draft grade wasn't that high. He's a great player but probably no better than a mid round pick. It's as simple as that. If he graded higher he would be moving on. I'm feeling the same way with Weaver. Probably not a real high grade. He's not a three down LB. Those are the guys that go real high. My concern with Weaver, looking at it from an NFL prospective, is his speed and how well can he cover backs in passing situations. Kind of reminds me a little of Matt Millen. But the game has changed. More of a passing league now and LBs have to be able to cover backs and TEs downfield.

Not listed in the participation report. So he never got in the game. Kinda wonder why we did not do what TCU did. That is, after failure of QB's go to a lot of wildcat. McIlwain would have been worth a try for that.

I expected Bynum would be back. Compared to a guy like Iman, Bynum just didn't have the name recognition amongst draftniks and scouts, even though performance wise this year he was in the same ballpark. Another strong year for him in 2019 and he'll be off to the NFL after his RS Jr year.

What the bowl game showed is that BMac may not have been the problem after all.
It seems the problem is coaching. I mean, when all of your QBs are making the same mistake over and over (not accounting for the safety or the closing speed of the DB) and can't improve on that all season long, that's coaching.
I sort of feel bad for making it about BMac on earlier posts.

Why would Davis go early? He's getting better and better. He could be All-Conf next year.

Didn't weaver run a 10.8 100M in HS?

We'd all love to see B-mac coached up. He has great arm strength and running ability. With the right teaching, he could still be a very good QB.

You can't teach an inaccurate thrower to be accurate. Period.

If Tui is indeed politely shown the door I'd like to wait and let his replacement make this call on whether it could work; if Tui is still here, then, well, forget it.

Just better decision making, not trying to force the ball down the field all the time and just taking what the defense gives me," Wentz said. "I think a lot of it also just has to do with how defenses are playing us. We are getting probably overall more soft zone than we have in the past, so just taking the underneath stuff is probably part of it."

In other words, he hasn't become more accurate, he's become a better decision maker, which is what needs to happen with Garbers. However I think he's not going to beat out Modster.

I think that's part of the package of being a more accurate passer, making better decisions, along with improved mechanics. They're inseparable.

I haven't given up on Garbers. I thought he was about to have his best game after the first twelve pass attempts and then he hit a wall. But Forrest was also left in the game too long. This is a 180 degree turn from Tedford era of only playing one QB.
