Screw the emotional comeback story. I still say F him

Maybe now that he's popular again, furd will invite him back to give another halftime speech at this year's BIg Game

You do realize that's the last time we won a BG. Ugh.

Must had shot up some 'roids or got the Stanfurd glove.

Not that we have to love that guy, and I hope he shows up at the next Big Game, but winning the Masters is a great sports story and I am glad for him and congratulate him for his career comeback and for winning this golf tournament.

We were discussing this at my son's Lawyer League softball game this morning. Everyone agreed that he's a jerk, but most were rooting for the comeback. I guess everyone forgets the above and roots for him as a multi-millionaire, jerk "underdog!"

His Stanford connection, meager as it is, has no relevance to me. Jim Plunkett seems like a nice enough guy and had some hardships in life. I never had any problem pulling for him. I met Ken Margerum once when I was casting flies for perch in shallow surf at Kehoe Beach in Marin. Great guy and fantastic fisherman.

Peccadilloes aside, and apart from the fact that he attended Stanford for like 12 minutes eons ago, Tiger Woods seems like a monumental assh**le. That's the reason I have no interest in his accomplishments and don't feel the slightest pang of sympathy if things go wrong for him. Yeah, I know, dad drove him hard. I think Fed and Nadal had pretty crazy lives from a tender age, too. Shockingly, they don't come off as total pieces of S like Eldrick.

I'm no Tiger fan, because Stanfurd and because d-bag, but what a sports story! Good for him, sort of. It doesn't make me happy, or happy for him, but I like a good sports story.

Speaking of Ken Margerum, his younger daughter is on the Cal track and field team. Another daughter was also on the Cal T & F team a few years ago. Cal hall of famer, Monte Upshaw is his father n law

Tiger is an absolutely horrible person so it's hard to imagine why anyone won't root for him. Even though I don't watch golf, it's irritating to see headlines pumping up this disturbed individual.

Maybe this is a sign from above.
Tiger returns to his winning form.
Now Cal returns to its winning form. ( at least as regards the Big Game).

I don't think it's called "investing" when you are partaking of the commodity.

As a Bear, I can't stand Tiger. Smug son of a *****. But today, I am a Tiger fan for sure. If you can't tip your cap to greatness, you;re dead inside.

nah, that was fun as hell to watch. tiger, aaron rodgers, etc. are all *******s - just enjoy the great performances. tiger isn't elway and the rivalry has basically died out (unfortunately).

I am not a Tiger fan in the least. As a former Furdie I root against him. But today was a sports comeback story for the ages. What a great day for golf and what a great win.

This thread is hilarious. Probably the only group of humans that feel that way about him. Transcendent people tend to be a-holes.

Much tougher to win 18 majors in our modern era due to parity in PGA. When I was a kid Jack and Arnie were basically Wilt and Bill Russell. There are so many good players now that guys like Patrick Reed and Danny Willett sneak in to win a Masters and much of the world asks, "Who?"

You are going to single out ESPN while CBS had how many hours of getting Wood(s)? I've been to religious services that have less sanctimonious tones than the coverage Sunday. Cowherd, and the Fox Sports 1 people were any different than ESPN?

Golf=a lot of ruined picnic areas. Or, as John Feinstein said, a Good Walk Spoiled.
The Masters/Augusta National=within the lifetime of most here, was nothing but a club of White Men looking to hold onto their fiefdom; to the extent that I am giving them credit for changing is generous on my part.
Tiger=if he was in any other sport, would have been suspended at least at some part of his career, or would have a bigger black mark against him. Golf and Nike prayed hard for yesterday's moment. Nike sticking with Tiger was a "chips all in" move on their part.

That all said, my hypocrisy was at its high point yesterday: I still watched.

Good for golf...still didn't watch it.

Personally I don't care about Tiger banging porn stars and all that but I do find it hilarious he didn't have the insight or depth to see how that would backfire. Money or Furd still doesn't mean you have a brain.

BTW, still boycotting Nike and Uncle Phil...another Stanfurd a**shole. Yup Eldrick is one too.

Did you guys watch the final round? Woods hit one DEEP in the woods and while bounding around in the woods with the gallery it mysteriously shot over towards the fairway. Didn't make it that far and Tiger had to play from the trees anyway. The commentator even noted that Tiger's ball might have been assisted towards the fairway by the fans. Very uncool.

I think TW is a repulsive individual and have enjoyed his fall from grace since that Big Game. Go Bears!

ESPN, CBS, the PGA, I don't blame any of them. They are in the business of making money, you do what you have to do.

Its the public just completely buying into it that's a little disturbing. More interesting to me is how many women are now cheering on Tiger. I told my wife that Tiger was about to win the Masters, she refused to even watch.

Tiger's ex was well compensated for his sexcapades. What woman wouldn't put up with a decade of infidelity for a $250 million severance package

Seriously, the Presidential Medal of Freedom for golf? I suppose it's par for the course...but man it sure cheapen the presidency and the Medal of Freedom to give it out frivolously and without serious merit.
