Typically around August I get anxious for some Cal football, and I'll rewatch a game or two, thus I was curious to know what your favorite games are to rewatch (Note: I started at Cal in 2003).

4th - 2006 Holiday Bowl versus Texas AM (After some initial issues, dominated a Texas team, when the announcers wouldn't shut up about Jovorskie Lane).

3rd - 2007 Cal @ Oregon (Great and crazy game, great performance by Desean and Forsett, felt Cal was truly a National Championship contender for the last time I can remember).

2nd - 2009 Big Game (Again, after initial turmoil, Shane Vereen took over and The Prophet did the rest, they shut down TB Toby for the last 45 minutes of the game).

1st - 2007 Tennessee @ Cal (Great and exciting game, with great plays by everyone: Desean, Jahvid, Forsett, Follet. It also makes me instantly nostalgic as Memorial was rocking, and the weather was one of those beautiful Bay Area days).

The recent win at Texas is fun to watch.
Lots of scoring.
But I also like the Tennessee game because of Musberger's calls etc.
Another good one is Jackson calling the Cal win over USC at Memorial in the mid 70s.
An under-rated game to watch if you can find it is the Cal at Northwestern win in 2014.
I forgot the great comeback vs. ASU at the end of the 2015 season before Goff went pro.
I think it was that game that convinced him he was ready.

1993 comeback v. Oregon. Dave Barr was just so locked in (second half that is).

Channeling my defense first Justin Wilcox viewpoint, here are some games:

2016 No. 18 Utah and the goal line stands. 3 last minutes of just pure emotion.
2009 Big Game: Mo with the interception of Luck. Luck held to 10 for 30 for 137 yards and no touchdowns, with a dominating running back and an offense line that went to the NFL. Given how good Furd's personnel was, this may have been one JT's finest coaching performances and Harbaugh's worse.
2018 vs No. 9 Udub. Defense outscored conference leading Huskies
2010 vs Oregon: Oregon's high flying offense (Duck lost that year's National Championship on a field goal at the final second) held to only 15 points. Chip fumes as Tosh tells players to stay on the ground. (BTW, the 2007 game between the 2 schools is a classic).

I agree with other posts: hard to pass up the 1982 big game, 1975 Sc game, the game Beastmode went on his golf cart ride was a great OT win, Best vs. Miami at the Emerald Bowl if you want to see a one offensive player just dominate the game, DJ vs Tennessee, Delta O'Neil vs UCLA where one defensive/special team player dominated the game, the two SC games featuring Rodgers (2003 Cal wins behind Robertson in OT and 2004 Cal losses despite incredible efforts by Rodgers and others.), and the 1993 and 2007 games vs Oregon, etc.

2007 vs Tennessee . The game was so fulfilling because of what had happened the year before. The crowd was nuts. The sack by Follett and the punt return by Desean were iconic Cal moments. It's a fun game to watch and it's also kind of sad because we were on the verge of becoming a elite program.

1) 2002 vs Furd. First time I rushed the field (and we tore down the goal posts).

2) 2007 Tennessee. That game was great from the first play of the game (Follett sack).

3) 2009 Furd. Day after I passed the bar and I snuck in a bottle of vodka into Furd stadium. I'm pretty sure I was blacked out when Mickey Mo made the game winning TD, but I do remember rushing the Furd field.

4) 2003 USC. Double OT over SC. Nuff said.

5) 2002 at Michigan St. After we won that game, I knew the Tedford era was legit.

Definitely 1982 vs. furd. Only time I have ever sat on the west side under the press box.
I was 10 when Cal beat Oregon State in 1970 on a last second pass to Steve Sweeney, if my memory serves me correctly. This one was not a great game overall, but very exciting at the end. Think Jay Cruz was QB.
1975 beating $c, very satisfying.
Also beating furd 48-15 in '75.

2007 Tennessee - I can watch that game over and over. That was simply an homage to Cal by Brent, Herbie and the entire ABC crew. And with the A-game production crew, with the overhead wired cameras, Memorial never looked better. It was magical to rewatch after getting home. I think i stayed up til 3 rewatching it. Of the many great aspects of that telecast production was Lisa Stalter up on Tightwad Hill talking about the fans partying "Berkeley style" and i remember thinking "YES!!! we should own who we are, the rest of the counrty loves it." The mocking PAC-10-FOOTBALL chant as the Tennessee fans were all filing out with about 5 minutes left in the game was glorious. As someone else stated, it felt like Cal football had arrived. The whole country was watching that game and we (the team, the fans, the band, the community, the campus, the view, the sunsets) gave them quite a show. Any kid watching that game anywhere in America had to think "Man, that would be a cool place to play football."

1993 Oregon. That 4th quarter was insane and when we went for 2 to win, instead of the extra point for the tie... when Barr connected on that pass to Caldwell... when you could see the officialls nodding at each other before signalling touchdown but BEFORE that you could see Chancellor Tien signal for the TD, Barr running down the sideline with such joy he could barely contain himself... That was magical.

1990 UCLA game. Ending the streak. The players coming down through the student section to take the field like gladiators entering an arena electrified the stadium. The "Bear Territory" chants at the end. There was one point on the telecast (I think it was Raycom). They were using the UCLA guys - and old guy and former UCLA qb Tom Ramsey. Ramsey was just a litte but hurt, but the old play by play guy was awesome. He was actully really appreciating the excitement. There was a point in the 3rd quarter where the broadcast came back from commerical after a Cal TD, and all through the commercial break the Memorial Stadium crowd had stood and roared and the old guy said "LOOK AT THIS PLACE! THIS IS BERKELEY!!! I haven't seen this kind of excitement in Berkeley in 20, 30 years of coming here."

1991 Washington. Just magical. Memorial was absolutely packed. The student section was full from an hour before kickoff. And the crowd was insanely loud. When Pawlawski connected with Dawkins down the west sideline for a TD you knew we were going to be in it. To this day, Champan breaking through on the last play of the 3rd quarter for that 65 yard touchdown. Musburger explaiming "CHAPMAN IS GONE!!!" Loudest I have ever heard Memorial Stadium. Again, through the entire TV time out the place roared and the roar got louder and louder and louder as it went on. I remember being on the boards, and just sort of slow motion looking around the stadium taking it all end.Just such joy.

Oregon 2006. At the time, a rare night game. Memorial packed and we just totally clown stomped Oregon and put them in their place. First play of the game when the Oregon QB through that INT, they didn't have a chance.

The Texas game in Austin. Particularly the part where we put up (I think) 28 straight points on them capped by Kalfani's 70 yard run up the middle for the TD. The replay of it from behind the line when you can see as soon as he breaks through the first line of coverage and is gone Goff thowing up his arms to signal TOUCHDOWN. You can heard the crowd, the band.

I also like watching all the sort of second-tier marque games. LIke Michigan State, Minnesota, Maryland... etc... It was amazing to walk into Memorial and know there were going to be 65,000+ (or so) people at those games. It was rocking. It felt so much like we had arrived. That Cal football had hit the big time. I remember listening to a post game show as we were driving home and Starkey interviewing one of the players and asking him what it felt to play like in front of another huge crowd.

Edit: and of course the 2009 BIg Game. As proud of a Cal team as I can remember. We could have tototally folded it in after Toby rand that first 70 yard TD, 3 plays into the game. Or the second one. But the way we TOTALLY OWNED that game from the 2nd quarter through the 3rd quarter. Shane was amazing. Miller with insane catches. Reilly was a total stud. ANd of course that INT. I could not get the smile off my face that night.

Anyway, my fear is that was just a brief, shooting star, in an otherwise long dark night.

1970 Big Game: Stanford was the 1971 Rose Bowl champion and had its only Heisman winner, Jim Plunkett. We were huge underdogs partly because we had to play with a quarterback who had been called out of the stands two weeks earlier due to an injury to starter Steve Curtis, Dave Penhall. Penhall outplayed Plunkett and became the hero of the 1970 Big Game. Cal led wire to wire. From a Cal point of view this has to be the most underrated game in Cal history. I have looked for video of it but have not been able to find any.

Mine, too.

And the best minute of that best day was when Russell White came out of the game and Bruce Snyder walked out on the field to shake his hand as he came off.

Never a better moment than that one.

I guess Jackson had a bit more of a southern drawl but it did sound a bit like a Jackson broadcast. Schenkel did a good job.
