In the USC game, our receivers were dropping passes left and right.

Did we have any drops in the Big Game? I can't remember any.

Uh... I think the difference was that SC is a damn good team and Stanford isn't.

I thought the same thing. I wonder if the team had a private meeting and talked-out their grips and discussed drops? Nikko and Trevor were two different guys between November 16 and the 23rd.

Nikko hadn't played in a couple weeks, cut him some slack.

And Trevon (I assume you mean Trevon, not Trevor) might have just had a rough week leading up to the USC game. No one really knows what these guys got going on in their personal life

When healthy and Slovis at QB, Sc is a better team than their record. Scary to think about them with good coaching.

In fact, the WRs made some difficult catches (e.g., pass to Clark on the final drive, with Clark's fancy footwork to stay in bounds).

SC at any given point has at least a handful of freak athletes that can catch anything thrown at them even in deep coverage, Furd basically had one (Fehoko). And yeah SC right now beats BYU, Washington and probably Notre Dame, a team packed with young talent improves as the season goes along.

A big reason why we lose to them most years is because we play them late.

I was actually pleased to hear Wilcox say Nikko has been dealing with nagging injuries all year. A healthy, just slightly faster, Nikko will make this offense a lot better (assuming it's a similar offensive system next year). I couldn't count the number of times Garbers had to run because our scheme, downfield routes by everyone with the slot receiver, usually Nikko, dragging across the shallow middle, failed to get anyone open. If Nikko is fast enough to beat his man coverage he will catch 100 balls next year. It did appear that he was able to beat guys a lot more this past weekend. That's a good sign. And indeed he and the rest of the receivers caught everything.

Furd was playing with three 2nd teamers in the secondary. Still, the Cal receivers made great catches.

Catching the ball is preferable to dropping it.

Also Oline pass protection. Chase had 2x (or more) the time to throw on most plays against Stanford compared to SC.
