Still old school tv showing schools marching bands at halftime. Almost like stepping into a time machine
I like that they've shown the bands every year including the lost/dark years when furd played in this game, just because it exposed furd's band (and general lameness) to the whole country.oskidunker said:

I completely agree that the Oregon band uniforms were ugly. But since they were designed by Nike, that's no surprise. Has Nike ever designed a classy, good-looking uniform of any kind?TomBear said:
Someone posted they thought the Oregon football unis were the best they'd seen in a while? That's nuts.....at least to me. You know, it used to be when you were channel surfing or watching various highlights, that you knew what teams were being shown by the unis. That's still true of Ohio State, Wisconsin, Bama, Tennessee, $C (one of the few positives involved with $C football) and UCla. And for the most part it's true of Cal. But if you channel surf looking for Oregon, good luck because you don't know from one week to the next what they're wearing. Although I think I have it down pretty well now......if the uni is dark and ugly, it's likely Oregon.
It's almost as if Oregon has no idea what their school colors are. On occasion they have worn some cool all green unis which actually look pretty good. But whatever it was they wore yesterday, that was butt ugly.
So it's no surprise that their band unis look like pajamas as well. In contrast, Wisconsin's band was well dressed, inspirational, and a huge contrast to the Oregon band. I see it sort of like the story of how Cal Band changed from their older, boring style to the Ohio State model after being totally outclassed by tOSUmb in an early '50s Rose Bowl, and which has served them well ever since they made the switch.
The Oregon Band had absolutely no snap and energy. The Wisconsin Band had energy, looked good, and totally blew away the Oregon Band's halftime show.
I also thought that the version of the anthem Oregon did sounded like it was a lullaby for a dead baby. Musically they sounded OK, but my gosh, you almost felt like you should be crying until the last few stanzas of the song. They got bailed out by they flyover which is always inspiring.
As for Cal Band looking to get new uniforms, I would expect them to once again go the classy route, as they have done ever since they decided to pattern themselves after the Ohio State Band.
And the answer will be: "Whatever Nike told us to think."HearstMining said:
Oregon band uniforms remind me of leisure suits in the '70s. Ten or twenty years from now, those band members will look back and say, "What were they thinking?".
