Congrats on becoming a California Golden Bear, Ernest!

Bears Pick Up SoCal Corner Ernest Nunley
The Bears picked up a commitment from 6-1/180 CB Western High School (Anaheim, CA) Ernest Nunley today, a week after his official visit to Cal.
"What made cal the right spot for me was, honestly, the coaches, especially Coach AB and Coach TB," Nunley said after his commitment. "I knew Cal was gonna be home when I sat in my position meeting with Coach AB and Coach TB and they broke down the plan that they have in my future with how I’m gonna be used at Cal, how they're gonna develop me into not just a football player but into an outstanding young man and that stuck with me and I knew they were serious and they really wanted me.
"Coach AB and Coach TB’s pitch to me since May has been we’ve sent nine DBs to the league and we just sent three alone in this last year’s draft so if your goal is to go to the league like you say, come to Cal."
The 3 star cornerback put up 26 tackles, 2 INTs, and 10 passes defended along with a punt returned for a TD as a junior for Narbonne HS before transferring. And as a soph. Nunley had 28 tackles, 3 INTs, and 1 fumble recovered. Nunnely held additional offers from UCLA, Wake Forest, Arizona, Boise State and more before choosing the Bears.
The 6’1 junior also has good speed, boasting an 11.1 100 meters mark and holds a 3.25 gpa.
Continuing the Bears’ extraordinarily high conversion rate on the first three weeks of official visitors, Nunley became the sixth commit out of initially seven uncommitted official visitors, with only Fresno ATH Brandon Smith still to decide.
Nunley joins prior commits QBs Brady Palmer, Nainoa Lopes, running back Victor Santino, WRs EJ Morgan and Tyree Sams, tight ends Taimane Purcell and Luca Wolf, offensive linemen Tommy Tofi, Kamo'i Huihui-White, Elisha Faamatuainu, Koloi Keli, Esaiah Wong and Artem Korchagin, defensive linemen Nemyah Telona and Frank Fanua, edge Camron Brooks, linebackers Jonathan McKinley and Jaxon Pyatt, defensive backs Deon Jackson and Jayden Crowder and ATH (TE/LB) Rocky Cummings in the Bears’ 2026 class.
