I didn't start this. I am perfectly willing to go to school with black kids, was happy to play football with them, live next to them, and every other human activity. I draw the line at being told that I owe them something because an ancestor seven or eight generations ago was a slave and I am certainly unwilling to be placed at any kind of disadvantage because of my race or sex.
Every time I encounter a demand for reparations for slavery I wish that Lincoln had simply let the south secede and avoided the Civil War. The Civil War was the bloodiest war in American history. It was the first imposition of conscription in American history. There were draft riots in Union states. According to what I read on the internet, government records show that a total of 776,829 men were drafted into the Union army. A total of 360,222 Union soldiers were killed in combat. It is estimated that 258,000 Confederate soldiers were killed. Today the descendants of the 2.1 million Union soldiers who served in the Civil War, none of whom owned any slaves, are being told that they owe reparations to the descendants of the slaves that their ancestors sacrificed so much to free.
MugsVanSant said:You can label it anything you want. If white people have a legitimate grievance they have a legitimate grievance. You havee posted nothing to demonstrate that my grievance is anything but legitimate. In fact, you have not said anything about its merits at all. The bottom line is that you are arguing that people should be judged based on what some members of their race have done in the past. If that is a valid concept, then white men should gt a lot of points for creating the University of California and making it great when it was great. You are not willing to give the white race credit for anything. You are anti-Caucasian.NYCGOBEARS said:MugsVanSant said:
What "advantage"? The University of California was created by white men. It was made great, when it was great, by white men. If there is an "advantage" it is an "advantage" that is earned. If what is due people depends on what their race did in the past, admission to the University of California is what is due white people. If people of other races want a great university let them create their own just as white men created the University of California. Otherwise, what is due to people does not depend on what their race has done in the past and race should not be a factor.
This is crazy white supremacy talk. White grievance is the saddest, most pathetic, laziest thing ever. It means that you believe you can't achieve what you'd like and have what you want without all the advantages and control.

Clearly you didn't major in History.
You seem to think once slavery ended, Blacks were equal in this country........
I suggest you read up on AMERICAN history, including but not limited to:
The 15th amendment, the Voting Rights Act, and
desegregation.
By the way, on behalf of Black people everywhere, "we sure is happy that you was willing to play football alongside us negros"
Considering your strong beliefs, why use a fake name on a messageboard?
The Fifteenth Amendment is not relevant. The equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment is relevant. There are at least four justices on the U.S. Supreme Court who are willing to say that the preferences and quotas that you advocate violate the equal protection rights of white and Asian people.
Considering your strong views, why do you use a fake name on an internet forum? For that matter is there anyone on this forum who posts under the name on his birth certificate? Why do you want me to be different? Are you trying to threaten me? Considering that you are on the side of political correctness it takes a lot less courage for you to post what you have to say than it takes for somebody, like me, who is politically incorrect.
Jeez, sounds like a conservative Republican to me.71Bear said:"...my people"? I think that says it all.MugsVanSant said:
I am not going to get on a train that is headed toward the oppression of my son and my people.
As much as I am critical of the direction of this country, I am proud to call all Americans, regardless of race, color or creed, my fellow countrymen/women (my people). And I am even prouder of the work my kids are doing to make the "American dream" a reality for the children of all races who are struggling to gain a foothold in this country.

Doesn't sound like any conservative Republican that I know or have seen. What color is the sky in your fantasy world?

What happened to white privilege?
The white stuff is past the indian part which of course is not PC. I don't think you're supposed to call Native Americans Indians.
