I think you guys may need to come to grips with the fact that there is a possibility that the college football season is coming to a close. Covid is skyrocketing. We are already at more hospitalizations than we had last spring and the deaths are up 50% in a week. I agree with WIAF that you play whatever you can, but when half the conference has had issues within like a week, how long do you think this is going to keep going?ducky23 said:Oh great. OSU is now having a covid outbreak too? Cal won't even be able to play next week either.B.A. Bearacus said:

The rapid test only picks up like 70% of the positives. In some cases it is better to use a rapid test that is less accurate than a slower test that is much more accurate. For instance, in a college setting if you are testing your student population on a regular basis, It is better to use the rapid test and presumably remove 70% of the positives immediately than to use a slower test and keep 100% in the population for longer.CAL4LIFE said:

Somebody stop the Cal equipment truck semi and put a sign on it - "Have Team - Will Play Anybody Covid Free".
At this point, I think the financial impact is more on teh member institutions. If there is no football and men's basketball revenue, the Universities still are on the hook for athletic scholarships, coaches, trainers, and the like. The students still receive a full ride. The only expense that the Unis save is travel.calbear80 said:OaktownBear said:I think you guys may need to come to grips with the fact that there is a possibility that the college football season is coming to a close. There comes a time to cut your losses and move on. If NCAA was not so $$$ hungry, this football season would be cancelled now. But, the NCAA and member institutions salute to the mighty $$$ first and foremost.
Go Bears!

Gee, thanks ELON! Let's fan the flames of conspiracy, shall we? The overflowing ICU's must be "by mistake" too. And the positivity rates published worldwide in error. And deaths? Caused by falls in the bathroom.CAL4LIFE said:

Maybe by "you guys" you mean the schools? Because, yeah, with the rates of cases and death... its looking like an August start was the best bet, and now its too late.
I dont see how the season ends by a reason other than covid cancellation.
Don't forget the 5* players. They want film and stats to max their draft. They put pressure on the conferences to play.calbear80 said:OaktownBear said:I think you guys may need to come to grips with the fact that there is a possibility that the college football season is coming to a close. thanks for the info. Wife and I took the rapid tests when we got back from Park City (Utah actually traces and asked us to take a test due to possible exposure). My wife came back "slightly positive" and I was negative, which really din't make sense to me. She then got swabbed and later told she was not positive. So the rapid test, while rapid, is not that accurate, but does serve a purpose. For example, when my wife came back negative the doctor said I didn't need to be retested. .OaktownBear said:The rapid test only picks up like 70% of the positives. It is well known that the rapid test is far less accurate. I'm sure Musk knows this, but he wants to pretend like the third leading cause of death in America doesn't exist and this fits his narrative.
