Clearly the oddsmakers haven't been reading this board. Otherwise, they would know that this is the worst team in the history of ever. And we have criminally inept coaches and administrators. The line should be Beavers - 1,000,000

I'd say even money on whether we play the game or not.

Oddsmakers seem to think the opener was an aberration. I guess we'll see. Saturday's game will be a new challenge. Their quarterback isn't nearly as talented as DTR, but the run game is very good. Can they stop the run. I'm not sure. because Washington had a lot of problems with it. Our defense is not better than Washington's. Can the offense make some adjustments because if I'm OSU I'm blitzing early and often right off the edge. I think we'll have to score 24 to 28 points to win. I'm more worried about the offense than the defense. Going into the season I was thinking the other way around.

OSU is 0-2 after losing to UW and WSU. Sagarin has this as a toss up (Cal #70, OSU#71 overall but OSU #77 and Cal #79 in Recent).

Interesting. Oregon State is 0-2 but I think they've become a tougher out under Jonathan Smith. Obviously a must win.

don't want to be a gloomer, but after a glorious opening play vs UW... the Huskies basically were rolling them, and i wrote the beavers off. turns out they made it (quite) a game, so...

but i don't think we saw the 'real' bears so i won't freak out

Kind of an intriguing point spread if it sticks. The oddsmakers have seen OSU play twice and the Bears once. I'm wondering what factors they saw in those 3 games that would justify the Bears being the favorite. I hope what they see pans out.

3 1/2 today. Might get closer by Saturday. How can they do these? Go Bears!!

Yeah, I think it is based on the preseason media picking Cal second to Oregon (and OSU fifth) in the North, with a few even predicting Cal wins the PAC-12. If this was our opener we would have been favored by more. The odds makers were trying to get action at 5. They overestimated the willingness of people to bet on Cal. The computer programs have it as a toss up. Cal and OSU had the same conference record last year. People are taking OSU and the points and the line is moving as a result.

I never bet on the Bears, I have too much invested in them already. Hopefully we are who we thought we were and everyone who bets on us is richly rewarded.

I too was wondering about that point spread. At first blush, I thought, "even with that UCLA debacle?" The Vegas joints might be trying to stir the pot on what many consider a ho-hum matchup.
