Is KAB catching some tastey waves? Where you at?

Give Kelly's thumb the "Goff maneuver."

Outstanding effort by the Bears against USC. Strangely I was hoping the Bradley would stop shooting as he has not shot well this season. Would have been a good game for Betley to be hot from 3 but that would not be the case. Really well coached game by Fox. Wish we could have had KK available to play against Mobley. That might have helped a little. Not going to win hardly any games this year but as I have indicated in other posts, I thought that we would be a decent team by the end of the year. Go Bears.

Cal's competitive... er... wrong thread to say that?

I'm not criticizing the decision but noting that Fox decided to go small when Thorpe fouled out (after Kelly had also already fouled out), bringing in Foreman instead of Thiemann, and we promptly gave up an offensive rebound off the missed FT, and then a second offensive rebound on that same possession, culminating in a basket that felt like a real dagger at that stage of the game. Again, I don't want to nitpick or criticize Fox for that; just noting that that decision appears to have played out poorly for Cal.

Why wasn't Kuany available? He did play 2 minutes. Was he injured during the game? I must have missed that.

The earlier matchup between Thiemann and Mobley did not go well for young Lars, and putting him in was the lesser of two options. Fox was hoping that Foreman could score, but he was was barely warmed up, having taken only three shots in 15 minutes. In any case, with both Kelly and Thorpe fouled out, there was little chance of Cal winning that game, if it did go to overtime, and Cal had to try and win it by making a couple of threes, and hoping USC would not score. Fouling was another tactic, suggested by others. But that game was lost for all practical purposes when Kelly and Thorpe both fouled out. Kelly fouled out in 24 minutes, and Thorpe in just 18 minutes. Cal is not deep enough to survive the loss of both of them.

Right, Mobley way too mobile for Lars, especially since Mobley can shoot 3s

Having Lars defend a mobile, talented big out to the 3 is not a good coaching decision, so Lars sat most of the game. The good news is DJ played probably his best game of his career, didn't make bad fouls and rebounded well. His strength caused the lighter brothers a little abit of trouble too

Yeah, but for that free throw, it might've helped get that critical rebound. You could take Lars out after that. That possession was a killer.

yeah, instead of complaining of the non-fouling (which was really a losing proposition given the game clock and the foul situation), complain about not having Lars or at least 2K for rebounding the FT shot

(of course, coach wanted fast shooters on the court, assuming we'd get the rebound if they missed the 2nd FT)

once SC got two rebounds the game was over
