That was a fun team!

I was at this game. I had a friend I had come who was UCLA alum and sat separately. With about 3 minutes to go and Cal with the 15 or 16 point lead, he came and said "let's go" but then that UCLA flurry happened including what was almost a tying three shot right in front of us. But, all was good in the world and Cal held on for the win.

That UCLA 3 was taken by their star PG. I think he rushed it as he leaned in on the shot

I remember that whole weekend so well. Some friends and I scalped tickets at Pauley and were having a great time talking trash as Cal built up the big lead. Then I started slinking down in my seat, feeling physically ill (as I cussed out Akili Jones under my breath), while UCLA went on the 15-0 run late.

The next night we went to an alumni dinner at the team hotel in Marina Del Rey where a player sat at each table. Got a great pic with Kidd that I still have. I remember being really amused at how excited the whole team (even Kidd) was to go down to Bosco to watch Gardner play after the dinner.

In typiCAL fashion, they went out and lost to a mediocre USC team the next night. I guess it was a sign of things to come vs. Green Bay. Oh well.
