Saw this today. A column by former Bear Rod (Boom Tho) Benson at SFGATE--this one with his criticism of the Tiger documentary. His bio suggests that he may become a regular columnist there. I guess the basketball career has ended. My son saw him play in Seoul a few years ago.

Rod wrote a good piece. Perhaps the only solid the documentary did for Tiger was omit any reference to his relationship with Dr. Anthony Galea.

The bartender at Rossmoor is also a golfer. he said it was common knowledge that Tiger was 'juicing" even in college. Naturally, so were other golfers. modern day scourge.

The Furd football team was still lousy when Tiger was there, but maybe he became their inspiration. ("Geez, if it helps a golfer that much, imagine what it could do for us!")

Actually that probably came from Harbaugh's orders. Sheer genius to hide behind "The Glove" though, which probably bought them a couple of extra years! (Besides the few extra years they got anyway, just being our-shyte-doesn't-stink Furd, combined with Shaw's indignant, sanctimonious denials.)

As to the topic of this thread, love that Rod Benson!

Concur with the high quality of the writing - you don't get that on the sports page much these days. You are right there is that dirty little secret which El Tigre has paid the price with spine surgeries and other medical problems caused by HGH, and the lack of judgment that he needed to bulk-up. He was was light years ahead of everyone. I'm with Collin - I have no intention of watching the "documentary." With all the "literary license" being taken these days, I find this kind of programming unwatchable.
